The Northern Spire
Excerpt from 'The Wayfarer's Companion': "As its name suggests, The Northern Spire watches steadfastly over the northernmost tip of the Riverwood province. Once an engineering marvel and sign of the power of the long since crumbled empire, the tower now serves as one of the four gateways to the Riverwood province. The people here wish to live a peaceful life away from the struggles of brutes and fools, but must remain ever vigilant to ensure their lifestyle." This is probably the second largest project I've undertaken. I didn't quite realize just how much real estate a 48x48 plate would encompass. I started with the waterfall running through the center, with no clear vision other than trying to capture the feel of the area around where I live. Then came the cliffs, and I knew I was going to have a large mass of rock, but didn't decide later to turn it into the spire. I wanted, there to be a dramatic change in height, so I figure that was a good way to go. Also it allowed me to do a little castle work, as well as make a little scene out of it.

Thanks, everybody! I'm glad to hear that a lot of you like the way I did the waterfall. That was the most important bit for me.

Wow, really nice. Heaps of great features but for now I'll stick to commenting on the effective water technique! I'm envious of your dark green hoods too, got to get myself some of those...

The way you did the waterfall using slopes is so unique! It looks really good, and is better than many others I've seen!

Fantastic build, some really innovative techniques here that work surprisingly well.

I like the smoothness and symmetry of the top section of the tower and how it curves almost to a point, like a spire. The jumbled blue in the waterfall looks good too.
