Excerpt from 'The Wayfarer's Companion': "As its name suggests, The Northern Spire watches steadfastly over the northernmost tip of the Riverwood province. Once an engineering marvel and sign of the power of the long since crumbled empire, the tower now serves as one of the four gateways to the Riverwood province. The people here wish to live a peaceful life away from the struggles of brutes and fools, but must remain ever vigilant to ensure their lifestyle." This is probably the second largest project I've undertaken. I didn't quite realize just how much real estate a 48x48 plate would encompass. I started with the waterfall running through the center, with no clear vision other than trying to capture the feel of the area around where I live. Then came the cliffs, and I knew I was going to have a large mass of rock, but didn't decide later to turn it into the spire. I wanted, there to be a dramatic change in height, so I figure that was a good way to go. Also it allowed me to do a little castle work, as well as make a little scene out of it.
