I really apologize for the poor photography, not only have I not used my camera in months but at some point it stopped letting me put it in Macro Mode. I also lack a good setup for pictures.
I'd estimate that I spent about 10 hours on this, total. The easiest part was the drill. The hardest part was definitely the legs. I revised those at least three times and I'm still not entirely satisfied. The feet were quickies, I might make a more thoroughly made one in the future.

You could make a segmented drill with spiral technic gears, or maybe make functional-looking studs on a more flowingly-shaped drill. That second one is more apropriate for steampunk, in my opinion.
I'm making a ground vehicle with technic gears...
By a more flowing drill, I can't think of anything other than a "flexible" tube piece. Did you have something else in mind?
