Lord of the Rings, Helm's Deep
It is created by Rich-K & Big J 90% is completed so far. About 150,000 bricks and total1700 mini-figures. It weight about 160 pounds and ping-pong table size (24 grey 48X 48 base plate). Once LEGO set was released last year, I thought, is this it? so I have started to collect mini-figures from around the world specially Elf. It was painful process since I was only able to get 6 from Germany, 8 from Poland, etc in order to get enough Elf to represent movie scene. Actual construction took about 4 months. This MOC will be displayed on upcoming Cincinnati Comic Con Expo on September, 13th, 14th and 15th, 2013 and BrickWorld Fort Wayne on September 28th & 29th with 100% completion. It is originally built for 360 view including the left tower and cave in tops but back portion was collapsed during the transportation. Once it is completed, the better picture will be posted with better camera (I rather spent money on LEGO though :) Please keep posing your comments or any suggesitons, I will consider all suggestion for next show. Thanks for your interest.

So that is why it is so hard to find Uruk Hai cheap. Love it. It's going to cost a lot to try and beat. I thought 20 was an army. Fair play. Would love to see it for real.

Greatly appreciated. People like you keep me going. To be realistic, though, this century has just started and there are 87 years for anyone to top my work.

Quoting Mask of Cheese THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!!! Wow, so many Uruk-Hai! ;-)
Thanks. In the beginning, I thought 800 of Uruk-Hai is enough but once I tested it, The scene wasn¡¯t overwhelmed like movie. Then I had no choice but adding 500 more. Once it is completed as I originally planed, it will be more than 1400 Uruk-Hai.

This is mnd blowing, I recently contributed to a layout at an event with over 800 soldiers (bluecoats, redcoats,...) and seeing such armies in person leaves an impression. The fortress itself is very nice. If there's one suggestion I could make it would be to add more Uruk's on the ramp to the fortress, in the movie uruks where even falling off because there where so many on the ramp. Great job. where (geographically) is the diorama (I'd like to know how realistic it is that I will see it for real) is in in the US ?

Beautiful work. Do you by chance have pics of it disassembled for transport. How does it break down. I too build very large mocs that I transport and I know it is half the battle designing a MOC to be transported and the means to transport it safely. I read that it broke when you last took it to a show, mine usually make the trip to the show as there it plenty of time to pack it, its when I leave and have very little time to pack it up and shall I say it ends up "not entirely safe for travel". Thank you for sharing this with the Lego community, I only wish I could see it in person, thats when you get a real perspective of how awesome a build is.

HOW'D YOU GET THAT MANY MINIFIGS?!?!?!??!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!
  May 5, 2013
That's just huge! Great landscaping and really good walls. But ... well, the Orc army seems to stand still. The minifigs don't move their feet ...

  May 5, 2013
I do have a suggestion for curving the pathway while still making it durable enough to move. Make a technic frame that clips on to the castle, which uses hinge pieces to create the bend. Then add on an outer detailed layer so it looks solid. Also, the orcs on the pathway need a battering ram.

So...it's big. This is an amazing piece of work. All the details are absolutely perfect. Very accurate to the movie. I'm also astounded by how many figs are in this work. Normally, that many figs can muck up a piece MOC, but in this case, I don't think it would be quite as effective without them. Very well done.

I plan to add the tower on right side and want to finish the top parts. I built it but was destoryed while I moved this MOC. It is heavy and required 3 adults could transfer just right castle section.

Quoting jack kenyon Simply astounding, but before you Finnish your masterpiece in accurately, the path up to the gate where the battering ram is, needs to be curved. I would advise a redesign of that bit before you show it around.
Good comments, I was thinking about it and researched a lot to make it curve like movie. The end results was I could do it if I just put on top of the base or jump plate, However, there is a duablity issue since I have to transfer this MOC to the LEGO show. Due to the moving factor, I had to make it durable first. I love to hear if you have any suggestion since I really want to make it like movie. Thanks.

This is fantastic! No doubt the biggest Helm's Deep that I have ever seen! The rockwork is spectacular, the deeping wall is wonderful, and the keep is amazing! It is almost flawless! The only suggestion I have is, as jack kenyon said, to curve the stairs up to the gate. Other than that, this is a masterpiece! Well done! I am itching to see the finished creation!

Wow, just wow. This is just an amazing MOC. The shear scale of the build is only surpassed by the enormous number of MiniFigs. Sweet mother of Aragorn! Phenomenal! Breath-taking! The sheer scope of this project absolutely floors me, I've always hoped to see a LEGO Helm's Deep with thousands of minifigures, but never dreamed that it'd ever happen. When it's finished you'll have to get a really nice camera, make a little studio, and possibly get photoshop to take some truly stunning photos. This masterpiece will put screengrabs from the film to shame.
