... some fighters!
Some new space fighters I recently made from my unsorted bin. Which has become quite large, I must say.
About this creation

G.A.I.A. Interceptor

Lightweight fighter deployed by larger ships. It has no landing gear.

It's armed with an automated turret and frontal phasers. It only equips light shields.

It's made from recycled plastics in a cheap production line. It can't stand much abuse, but the light weight makes it very agile.

If the main hull gets damaged, the pod can return to the ship to attach to a new one and resume the fight.

The Bad Taste

I wanted to try out the most outrageously ugly color/shape combo I could. I'm relieved to see it looks so much like something from Star Wars extended universe, because it confirms much of what I thought about it.

The Bad Taste is a tough, slow scout capable of enduring much punishment.

Alien Intruder

This is awesome. I made it sorting my D-B-Grey.

The Intruder is armed with twin mounted disruptors and a central turret.

It's very fast and agile, and it equips powerful frontal shields.

The engines also feature a short range warp engine.

The pod can turn and aim independently.

Pew! Pew! Pew!

The Intruder is also capable of atmospheric flight, and of vertical landing/take off.

Well, I hope you liked them, comments are welcome.

Quoting Parrington Levens Neat trio mate, I love the bad taste ship, junker tech etc, fun stuff, real cool snot work, and the other two are very nicely shaped. Made my day to see a red and blue GAIA fighter in there also :)
The original idea was to have a heavy fighter blue and red with bicolor wings. But I didn't have the parts.

That alien intruder is a fantastic shape.

Quoting JWG 258 Great style, The outrageous curves and bold colors remind me of old cartoons from the 70s and early 80s. I can almost imagine skeletor or mumra flying around in the gray and trans purple one. I'm going to copy the over/under cockpit design of the red one. I have been trying to get the two halves to go together and look cool for some time.
The GAIA fighter's hull was in fact inspired by the 80s Flash Gordon movie, and that was heavy in retro designs.

A great collection of intertestingly shaped ships. I like how the side-view of the first ship goes down towards the front in steps. Nice escape capsule too. The Bad Taste really is a grim colour scheme: excellent! A good UFO/flying saucer shape too. My favourite has to be the third ship. The wings, varied angles and engines are good but the swivelling cockpit is a brilliant idea. Both the colour and the functionality really make it stand out. Great work all round!

Quoting Eric Landreneau Love your first commentary on the Alien Intruder. "This is Awesome." Sometimes Mocs come together like that, and you know you've hit gold. It is the best of the three. While the bad taste isn't pretty, I think you could do better; make a mark II, and go for even uglier. I believe in you. Looks like some fun quickbuilds. dig 'em!
Yes. Some of the funniest stuff I build happens while sorting.
Quoting Mike Johnson On a side note have you noticed that all the regular AFOL's seem to be MIA lately? Any idea where they all went?
No. I needed Phipps for a bit of advice, too.

Some really abstract concepts! The colors schemes are cool too.

At least someone I know around here is still alive and kicking! I wonder was it intentional that your GAIA interceptor looks like a one-man Klingon Bird of Prey? Also The Bad Taste isn't ugly. It's just been born with the unfortunate luck to resemble every other piece of junk to fly out Lucas's wazoo! The Alien Intruder is the best one naturally. With the pivoting turret/cockpit, it feels more like a bio-mechanical bat monster, especially in landing mode. A great job my friend! On a side note have you noticed that all the regular AFOL's seem to be MIA lately? Any idea where they all went?
