Shamrock Ladder Company receives Replacment
About this creation
It has been just over a year since Shamrock Ladder Company announced they planned to retire their 1941 American LaFrance 85' ladder truck. They contacted representatives from The RNT Fire Apparatus Company, located in the City of Ticlaw, to assist them in locating their replacement.

From the beginning, the minifigs of the department knew they were going to have to find a quality used aerial for their replacements, since prices of new apparatus could range from $800,000 to over 1 million. Late last fall, the chief of Shamrock received a phone call from RNT Fire Apparatus sales department that there was a nice aerial going to be available sometime in March or April 2013. The committee from Shamrock went and viewed the truck and knew from the moment they saw it, that they wanted it for their replacement.

The truck is a 1995 Seagrave 100' rear mount ladder truck. It has only 3,600 miles and a recent freshening. The truck arrived at the RNT company in late March to have the white trucked painted green. This afternoon the truck was delivered to the Shamrock fire station where the members were excited when the truck pulled up. They spend the day reviewing the truck and learning how it operates. Seen here are minifigs from Shamrock showcasing some of its features.

Classes on operation of the truck will continue through the end of April, when the truck will return to RNT for company decals to be placed on the rig, then it will be put into active service.

The new aerial will be in service with the companies 1986 Seagrave engine.

The 1941 LaFrance will then be placed in reserve status, where it will be maintained for backup, parades and other events.

Great job, I really like the outrigger design. When will we see her in all her glory with the pretty lettering and numbers?

Quoting Matt Jacobsen I love it! Any chance we will see more of the Ideal Engine Co.?
I will upload a couple photos. Engine 1, a 2000 RNT, isn't complete yet, but Engine 2 a 2012 RNT is completed.

Your welcome Chris! And thanks for the response, hopefully I can manage the same with my aerials. :)

Quoting Anthony V This is an awesome truck. I really like the green colors on it. The backstory is also creative. It is something that I like to include as well to add history to the department. The older rig is nice, broken in, not squeaky clean and new like a lot of builders do. It is realistic in a financial sense, which I like. What is the black and orange rig that is nestled back there?
Thanks for the remarks. I am a very history oriented person in real life, so it sort of happens with LEGO life. The black and orange engine that you are inquiring about is engine 2 from Ideal Engine Company. The apparatus is a RNT fire truck, of which I am sure you never heard of. That is a fictious company that is located in my LEGO city, and stands for Robert, Nathan and Thomas, my sons. Someday, I hope to have a facility build with detailed interior someday.

Quoting Jon D Very nice aerial Chris! Love every detail and the color scheme! Question for ya' how many ladders fit in the internal ladder compartment?
Jon thanks for compliments. To answer your question,.. I have a single ladder and a double ladder stored in the compartmet. One might be able to place another single in there. I will have to try. All my ladder trucks carry ground ladders.

Excellent. I love the details like the working outriggers and the internal ground ladder storage. Very few builders add details like those. Keep up the good work.
