A lidless eye, surrounded by flames
Long ways to go yet - Vol. III
About this creation
The topmost tower of Barad-dr - fortress of Sauron!

One third of the tower is with this section completed. The most challenging so far - for example the spires, the eye or basically all of it. But on the other side it is the most remarkable, represantative part of the tower! (Maybe caused by the fact that it is nearly the only part you see here and there in the movies)

I decided to alter the pictures in B&W (with eception of the great eye), to make the appeareance of the tower in the pictures more pleasing for the eye and to contrast it, regarding the background. Since the tower is just black this works obviously quite well.

Comparison:

Comparison with me (1,86m tall) and top-section (78,5 cm) to give an impression of scale and size of the growing beast.
Followed by a comparison between the first tower (back in '11) and the actual one:

I recommend this for another comparison:
Barad-dr

(It's not the original bigiature used for the movies but a replica basing on the bigiature and the most accurate)

Till next time, followers of the Dark Lord ;-)

Absolutely unreal. The eye actually looks like it's on fire, it took me a second to realize it was actually Lego! Is this the finished product? If not, I can't wait to see it. Please check out my Acclamator Assault Ship if you get the chance. Thank you, and keep up the amazing work! Man I can't get over it....

This is amazing!, Incredible detail and I love how you designed the eye. I would sure love if you made the rest of the tower to go with it(but if you can't I totally understand why)good gob man.

What a Brilliant and well designed tower Its complexity and level of detail is incredible. Looks like a viking warrior. Could be a trick of the EYE. Well done.....

Quoting Joshua Quint Are you still working on your new and improved Barad-dur? Cause it seems as though you stopped? But you might still be working on it because these things take time. So could you give me a reply?
Yes, I'm still working on it, but with a model of this size and scale every small progress needs even weeks.

This is a fantastic build I really know what you mean when you say, "All I could see was the top of the tower, the rest is always small," This one turned out way better than the first keep up the good work!

Great Barad-Dur! Definite structural improvements over the original. Although I think the Eye in the last one was better.

This is impressive. It was such a challenge to build this evil-eye. I do think you brilliantly succeeded!! You made a very delicate work on the eye and the tower.

Man, this puts your old one to shame. I really love this eye, it looks a ton more accurate, and unlike last time it doesn't appear Sauron is pretending to be Chinese. I can't wait till you finish the whole tower, it's gonna be huge!

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Looking good! While I preferred the elongated shape of the old eye, I like that the new one appears to float. You win some, you lose some, eh? In any event, the tower looks way better now (which I would've thought an impossible feat) and the whole thing looks very cool.
Thanks! That's right about the eye, but I orientated this time directly from the movies and not the reference, I had last time - I personally find the new eye better compared to the movies.

Quoting Spencer "Hawkeye" Pearce That eye. How. How is it kept in place?
In the close-ups of the eye you maybe see it a bit: It's kept in place on the horizontal axis through the eye and is attached to the spires - but I used 1x1 rounds in trans-clear to cover it as much as possible.

Upon closer inspection I'd say the new eye looks better in every angle other than the frontal view.

Quoting Sebeus I Compared to the older one I find the new tower itself an improvement but the old eye looks better in my opinion
Thanks! I liked the eye of the first one too, but it was to 2-dimensional - especially in the new one such a solution would loose much effect due the wider spires and the more massive section.
