Technicity
City style vehicles in Minifig scale with Technic functions.
About this creation

It's the 'City Expert Builder' range... of mostly big vehicles - Technic functions in a 5-wide car may be asking a little much...

Any excuse to build (another!) mobile crane... This one is 10 studs wide and has all the functions of my old 20-wide one, minus the engine. There's a three piece boom; the inner two sections telescope out together via a single control, the boom will lift, the hook will raise and lower, the chassis has progressive rate steering on three axles and the four stabilisers deploy via a single control and will lock in place.

Insert 'getting it up' joke here...

Of all the cranes I've built, this one works the most smoothly. Lord knows, I've had enough practice...

It will extend higher than the old Lego Technic 8421 crane, despite being half the size. Not as strong, though - you can't win 'em all...

For it's size, very robust and playable, which is the idea behind all these models. Next!

The lorry's an old moc - 7 studs wide, working steering, seats two figs - but the low-loader trailer is new.

The ramps at the back fold down and it has a stand to, er, stand on.

Designed to carry this bulldozer...

This one is 10-wide (12 with blade) and has a raising/lowering/tilting blade at the front and a deployable ripper attachment at the back.

Stuff goes up...

Stuff goes down. This is really good at pushing stuff around, too...

Isn't it sweeeeet ? The tractor below, that is, not the brute above!

6-wide with working steering on a simple swivelling axle. The gear for a steering wheel is a little homage to 851...

I would have liked a similar over-centre lever system to that which lowers the bulldozer's blade for the 3 point hitch here, but rapidly ran out of room...

These two you've already seen, if you've been paying attention... working tippers, steering, engine in the big one, sort-of-suspension on the small one. Both great fun to play with. For your children, of course.... :-)

This has been Technicity. Thankyou for watching.

And I was so proud of the car I just finished last night because I used SNOT in one or two places... Oh well, these are fantastic, I sure hope I can build like this some day. I really like the truck with the bulldozer, reminds me of a Bruder toy I always wanted as a kid. Your LEGO one is a 5th the size and has so many working parts. Good job on the rest of these too, I would love LEGO to make sets like these.

All of these kind of remind me of destructicons from transformers. I was hoping that the last picture would show a transformation! :D Kidding! Handsome vehicles all in all, my friend!

A great collection of builds. I like the blue tractor, which is a brilliant version of the old Technic set. I also like the truely authentic touch on the big crane of having it with a mini-fig in the driving seat but no space for him at the crane controls. It took me straight back to sets from my childhood such as this one: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=558-1

Yellow and technic bricks bow (raise?... ^^) to their master. Like some others, I do think you could propose this theme on CUUSO. Excellent work, Nick. I'm pretty sure I would keep them just for me... (OK, lend them 10 minutes to kids!)

Quoting Tom Simon If LEGO offered you a position as product manager for this entire theme (and they should), would you accept?
Probably. Thanks Tom. I mean, definitely :-)

I have no idea how you can create such amazing functions with technic, all of these surpass any LEGO set I can think of. Brilliant work as always.

AWWWWW YEAHHHH!!! Now you're talkin'!!! This has to be one of the best collections I have ever seen. I have said for DECADES (ouch) that Lego needed more construction stuff WITH FUNCTIONS! This is truly perfect to the point that Lego should pay attention here. As for the steering on the tractor, I hate to point out that my buddy icon has you beat by about 100 years. Sorry and HAHAHA XD I love this stuff Nick.

The whole collection is brilliant. Very inspiring, and certainly something I'd like to tackle as a theme. I especially love the steering solution on the little blue tractor.
