Pocketbox watercolour set
About this creation
I built this for my friend's birthday. She's a painter and those are her hands in the picture. Pictures were taken at her atelier at ALU (Academy of fine arts in Zagreb).

Thank you!

So what you are saying is that it is just to show that it's a painting of fruit for the sake of fruit? I enjoy art, but I feel like there may need to be a deeper meaning sometimes. I like to make things that make viewers enjoy the piece for what it is without much of a deeper meaning and let the critiques get all philosophical, but being in Art History classes forces the deep meaning on you so I just had to know since you painted a bowl of fruit. I'm more interested in the design or tequnique; the physical properties. I can enjoy the combinations of things, but the meanings get me a little confused.

This is simple yet really effective! Looks great, and from a slight distance, I would be pretty convinced it is real :)

@ MCLegoboy, It's actually a simple excercise. Drawing, painting, or sculpting what you SEE rather than what you KNOW is possibly the most difficult skill any artist can hope to hone. And, fruit is cheap. When Yoda said, "You must unlearn what you have learned." he spoke directly to all of us artists. It requires us to step away from cognitive logic and flow into pure, sensual input. My sincerest apologies for rambling about this on a wonderful build with cool potential. (I may use this idea for my guaches.) Hope I didn't put MC on the spot and thank you for the clever idea!

Artsy. Please explain, why do people feel so compelled to paint still lifes of fruit. Or random still lifes for that matter. I can understand landscapes, portraiture, and narratives, but still lifes? And of just fruit? I don't get it.
