About this creation
My entry into the Secret Castle Contest, category "Tudor Castle."

Late night uploads are really rough. I apologize for the lack of commentary (though heck, most of you may call it a blessing), as well as the lack of decent pictures. My camera chose, of all nights, tonight to revolt.

Thanks for the look, and Soli Deo Gloria,

A M

That probably is the best brick work I have ever seen! Great job on the detail and the water, also the mini-figs.

I love the perfect eroded/abandoned/deteriorating look you gave this moc! Everything blends so nicely. (And that little bridge is a neat design.)

Great build, great detail. Love the whole "crooked" aspect and the yellowish water. Looks very spooky.

Quoting Halhi 141 Well, I guess that sums up a few months worth of thoughts on this build. Outstanding job.
Wow, thank you very much! You've made many good points and constructive criticism that I'll be sure to consider in the future. Cheers! :)

Apparently despite the number of times I've visited this page I've neglected to leave a comment. So I must say: wow. You've really done a great job here. Really nice idea with the combination of masonry bricks and tiles; both of those might seem like too much detail on a normal castle, but you really pulled it off well here. The amount of detail is just perfect; I like that it has more texture than a normal castle creation, it really makes the castle look old and dilapidated. The rocks are also ingenious; I've been toying around with the idea of hinges to have more angles to the rocks, but I see you've beaten me to it. The stream also looks great. I don't normally see MOCs with the tan beneath the stream, it's normally a shade of blue, but I like the effect here, any other color would just look too bright and distract, whereas you've managed to blend it in so perfectly with the colors of the rest of the build. I can't say I love the design of loose studs for the water. It's something I see too often, I think, and I prefer connected water with plates since it doesn't have the tendency to move when you adjust the creations, and it allows for so much more texture and depth with multiple levels of clear plates. I really love the use of the microfigs as statues. I know it's not a new design, but it's so effective combined with the full minifigure statues. I also like what you did with the broken statue, taking out the center part from the legs isn't something that many people would instantly think of, but it smooths it out so much more and makes it so much more visually appealing than if the center part was still on. Now I think that something more added on to the bridge would look better. It seems a bit too small now. Using some arch pieces and attaching tiles and plates to the underside can work well for a arched bridge, which I think would look really nice here. The rockwork, through ingenious with the hinge in the middle, could be slightly better I think. I'd recommend avoiding the use of so many inverted slopes, it looks a bit unnatural in this context. The castle wall on the right looks great with the combination of masonry bricks, tiles, and the curved wall technique, but I don't really like the use of the 2x2 tiles, they look a bit out of place and too tall for this use. For castle walls I generally prefer 1x2 tiles since they seem most accurate to the proportions of the stone bricks used. That tree going through the part of the castle on the left looks really cool, I love how you included the hinge to give it more shaping. The border is pretty nice, I like that it's not just the plain black that one normally sees, but I think sticking to just one shade of brown tiles (eliminating the dark brown) would be more effective and stop any chances of disracting from the build. Wow, that was a long comment. Well, I guess that sums up a few months worth of thoughts on this build. Outstanding job.

This is some top drawer building here, you've put on a clinic for how to build a ruined structure. This is very inspiring. I like your choice of for for the bottom. Of the stream, very original.

Quoting El Barto ! Nice work on this! The curved rock work blends well, and there's just the right amount of detail. But the question remains: Why was it abandoned?
An excellent question, I wish I knew the answer :P The title came into being literally five minutes before the deadline... creativity was a bit stunted, to say the least. Thanks for the comment!

Quoting Luke the Swift DAng man this is pretty awesome was wondering if you could help me out with something I have recently started my summer job and been wandering you knew of a site where I could order bricks from?
Thank you! There are multiple sites to buy bricks from, and I think a lot of the choice depends on your needs or situation specifically. But in general, most people use Bricklink (http://www.bricklink.com/). I have never ordered from them before, but that's really because I've hardly placed many orders for parts before at all. At first, their site is a little overwhelming (at least, I know I was confused the first time I went on). In essence, it's a sort of marketplace for multiple stores that sell bricks. Clicking the heading "Buy LEGO" will allow you to select what you want to purchase (in this case, "Parts"). You can then select the type of part you desire and the individual brick. This will bring you to a list of stores that sell that particular part. Finally, you can sort these stores by price range, number of your piece available, etc. I hope this helped, and thanks again for the comment!
