When I first saw this I thought what a cool house model. Then I saw the zombie apocalypse and the house become armored! This is fantastic! I love the grates on the windows. Awesome.

Superb, surreal and yet strangely practical too. Worringly it looks just like my house, though I haven't installed anything to protect me from the zombie apocolypse (I do own a chainsaw though :) ). I like how the garden has become overgrown after the minfigs emerge: a great touch.

Quoting Tim C Gorgeous build, Jon. I love the zombie builds that you throw out there every once in a while. The doomsday preppers idea really translates well to LEGO. The build is so clean. I like how it starts out as a sort of a perfect Donna Reed setting and transitions into the steel fortress. I'm wondering, though, does the steel defense fit over the original house, or did you replace the house with the defense for the sake of the MOC? Either way, brilliant.
Thanks Tim, expect more - I really enjoy building this sort of thing, and we're massive Walking Dead fans here ;-) The steel shell fits straight over the house minus the white trim from the roof. You can just make out the porch in the last picture. I was going to show it being airlifted into place by Chinook, but time was running out, so settled for the team of engineers. Highly skilled, of course :-)

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Spectacular. I love how you include enough detail to make this interesting, but little enough that it's realistic. Brilliant concept, and fantastic colour choice. No idea how you can do such large builds so quickly, most impressive.
Cheers Luke. Took a few days off work during March - still only managed four builds tho :/

Quoting Mr. Xenomurphy This is fantastic, Jon. The idea, the execution, the details and the humour are just perfect. This and a grey street instead of a black one, which so many builders do wrong (streets are only black when they are completely new or wet). Excellent!
Cheers Thorsten, I doubt I'll ever build in black again after finding out how difficult it is to photograph ;-)

lol, just my kind of sarcasm, you did a wonderful job of re-creating the ideal 60 s house, I could nt help thinking of the videogame; zombies ate my neighbor, lol, or 'the horde' on 3do, when they cross the hays, beautiful houses, and yard, amazingly classic, and cartoony, chef d oeuvre! bravo!
