Science fiction pack 3
"news reports from march 21st" Today in the company, talk has circulated amongst military officials of a new top secret aircraft. The nimble 6th generation fighter was dubbed the Naberius, by its creators. This aircraft won’t be available for trade, and is expected in the next few weeks, along with the new battleshell hardsuit.
About this creation
"news reports from march 27th" "6 days after prototype flight tests."
Today Company Aircorp officers finished reviewing the first prototype Führend Flugwerk FF-71a Naberius. Or leading airframe fighter.

The Naberius was named after the menacing demon, who could take many forms. He takes the form of a black crow, and more widely known, the infamous three headed dog.
As such will be a fierce warrior of the skies.
Approval of the next generation fighter is a go.

Naberius fighters were built around the Masada prototype 200mm lowpower coilgun launch system. It fires a metal canister that itself launches a specialized missile when in range of a target. This multiple step internal weapon system can cripple other units at very long distances. An auto feed system can also help a pilot select between 4 types of munitions to fire. The aircraft will also feature multiple missile pods for taking out nearby fighters.

Aircraft will come equipped with twin Neutron drivers, an energy thruster prototype engine. A neutron reactor powers the fighter up to Mach 3, but also has unlimited power.
The forward intakes still suck up air, but instead channel the air into a laser cooled fusion reactor to fuse hydrogen, and oxegen to make water, then split it to make hydrogen for fuel. The large amount of extra energy is channeled to varuius functions. The engines are basically rocket thruster. Such technology was once deemed inefficient due to quick burning fuel, but due to work from ISA in the early 21st century, the solution to that problem was soon theorized. It can still run out of fuel, but extra fuel can resupply itself over time.

Stats as followed

Design: forward-swept wing + canard
Powerplant: 2 × WESTNA -AX neutron drivers
Crew: 1
Maximum speed: Mach 3.1
Range: 1300-3000 miles "dependant on speed.

Guns: 1 × 200 mm coilgun launcher
Missiles:
6 × 200mm Ultra longrange Canister missiles
6 × 200mm midrange non canister AA
30 × very shortrange swarm rockets

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battleshell hardsuit.

More info will be added for the mech.

To all those who say that the gun would cause the plane to fall: THAT IS NOT TRUE!!!!! since its a magnate there in no gas propelling the projectile hence there is no recoil. If you dont believe me go to wikipedia.

Yeah, I don't want to hijack the comments any more than I already have :3 , although it would seem we are pretty much in agreement anyway.

Quoting Matthew McCall The momentum is equal to the mass of the gun multiplied by its velocity. This backward momentum is equal in magnitude, by the law of conservation of momentum, to the forward momentum of the ejecta (projectile(s), wad, propellant gases, etc...) from the gun."
Regardless of topic you should continue this convo in D&C, not on my creation.

Impressive styling. However, even it is sci-fi I would worry about correct Center Of gravity (COG) of the craft. Arent the wings are a little bit too forward compared to COG?

No offense, while you are correct about what causes reoil in firearms, you are wrong about what causes recoil. Unfortunately, railguns and coilguns have to follow physics like all other weapons. ----- From wikipedia: "A change in momentum results in a force, which according to Newton's second law is equal to the time derivative of the momentum of the gun. The momentum is equal to the mass of the gun multiplied by its velocity. This backward momentum is equal in magnitude, by the law of conservation of momentum, to the forward momentum of the ejecta (projectile(s), wad, propellant gases, etc...) from the gun." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recoil

That fighter is very impressive. Nicely designed and excellent shape. ^Blub^

Quoting Matthew McCall (edited for clarity/accuracy) It would seem my comment is in moderation, but until it shows up I would like to point out that yes, while railguns will have the same amount of recoil, it is less noticable due to being spread out over a longer period of time relative to conventional propellant.
I never ended up getting any notices, well jack has a point, conventional weapons push, magnetic weapons pull. But aside I'm sure the aircraft can handle recoil. The gun only fires the long range canister multiple stage missiles, The conventional ones just plop out like a javelin, only at a bit higher speed, using very low power. Basically they would fire the gun at longer ranges, giving time to allow deceleration. Also the reverse swept wings allows to keep the plane stable at low speeds... apparently.

Quoting claw paradox very nice, however a close-range weapon would also be good. remember what happened to the gunless f-4 phantoms when they went into a close dogfight?
Thanks. It comes equipped with 30+ close range missiles that track aircraft, and then swarm. But remember its also the future, Im sure most engagment would take place much farther away then in the 60s, and 70s.

I love the jet, a very nice blend of reality and fiction.

Pretty cool. The jet kind of reminds me of Transformers: Animated Starscream though.

Nice work, In see you took up my forward sweep idea. I think the coil gun recoil problem is my fault. In theory, if the magnets pulled the round forward, instead of recoil, there would just be strain on the structure of the gun.

Quoting Matthew McCall Everything here is very well built (and makes me think it might be time to consider building a new fighter...), but have you considered the massive amount of recoil that a 200mm coilgun would generate if it were to launch a projectile more than a few kilometers? We are talking about a HUGE amount of deceleration. I'm not saying it would knock the aircraft out of the air but it is a legitimate concern. Anyway, keep up the good work!
Thanks. Well magnetic weapons don't really have as much recoil. That is because there isn't an unstable burst like in regular guns "that's what nearly all recoil is a result of". Artillery for example pull back because extremely hot gasses are also pushed forward with the round. When the fire and energy goes one way, there will be recoil in the other. You don't think the explosion of energy pushing forward inside the weapon doesn't contribute? Regardless the coilgun on this is low powered, and stubby. Imagine it being a futuristic air version of a gun like on a Sheridan. And if the mid range missiles are used they not fired out of the gun but simply launch from it.

Awesome work here mate! The aircraft looks extremely cool. But the recoil isn't a problem right? since coilguns do not have any recoil? Or at least people told me that. The hardsuit is a little off, for some reason. But good work nonetheless.
