MocAthalon 2013 Team Bricks for Breakfast - (What a Girl Wants? 'Universal Suffrage')
About this creation
Category: 5 What a Girl Wants?.

Team: Bricks for Breakfast

A very calculated and intentional subversion of the category. It seemed more important to answer the question 'what a girl wants?' than build a hair dryer. This one is for Emily Pankhurst .

I think that it's the hat with the feather that really makes this work for me. I don't wht but it just seems to set in the right period, plus the grey dress and the way that banner is plain. Perhaps it's because that it almost looks like a B7W photo from the period (yes I did spot the bright red hair!).

Deep, while the build is great and the cause is great, the category was actually pretty specific about the type of scene to build. 3 points. ~Thoy

Quoting Wes Pitter An 'intentional subversion,' eh? Well, it's a good one! 4 points.
Just my way of saying this time I'm not making any schoolboy errors.

Quoting Ru Corder Great take on the category. It's also sadly still relevant to modern society. 4 points!
I'm with you on that, still many places in the world where Women have no political say at all.

Quoting Nick Barrett A much better take on the category than a hairdryer... also, what Matt said.
Matt does seem to have a point.

Quoting Senator Chinchilla . Certainly more important than a hair dryer. Although pressing a few buttons in a booth hardly does it justice, you should have to break a painted glass window with a hammer to choose your candidate. But that's not important, I should be saying what a nice MOC this is! This is a nice MOC!
On that note, maybe I build a situationist next time.

You might be in luck later, I have a little whimsical CS walker I pulled together yesterday ready to be posted.

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Yes this has happened to my last two creations also. They were not the most popular but both had more than enough likes to make it on the homepage. I mustn't grumble cos I have had plenty of exposure on my other mocs but it is a little frustrating.
The way the front page works is a complete enigma.

Quoting Jon Blackford A daring and creative take on the category - nice one! You're doing a great job of interpreting the categories whilst keeping your signiature style, a pleasure to see.
As soon as I saw the category, this idea was all I could think of. I love these type of competitions, really good for inspiration.

Quoting matt rowntree Great one David. I'm with Topsy on this with the classic expression. Love the hat and hair as well. It was such a shame when women finally got the right to vote only to realize that there was no one worth voting for. Maybe what we ALL want is the option of "none of the above". =] Sorry, my two cents worth. Good luck with the judges.
You have to think that voting was just the first step of many in the batle for equality; but I am hearing those two cents worth.

Thanks Sarge. I love building at this scale, it really pushes you to build with the bricks.

Quoting gid617 (Kai NRG) Great category twist here! Actually none of the entries would represent what I want (which would be more LEGO), but oh well. Like the way you did the lettering, making one line for two letters (it does make the W and the M a bit hard to read, but that's not much of a problem)!
Brick limitations in the black plate range led to this creative solution. And yes, I agree, I want more bricks too :)
