Category 27. The Ides of March

This Story is based off of History and the history of Emporer Sushun can be found here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emperor_Sushun
Although the story has been altered/modified for easier telling and understanding. I also recognize that there may be Technology, Architecture, and other advances that were not around in 550 but they are used for the improvement of the builds. And now, for the story.

History is marked by the blood of assassinated leaders, rulers, and other influential men, and much of this can be found in ancient japan. Throughout Japans History we can find a long story of power, betrayal, and assassinations...

Ancient Japan, the year 520,the Japanese Emperor Kimmei's 12th son is born. Sushun's parents represent a special link in Japanese relations. His father being the emporer was married to Oane-no-kimi the daugter of Soga-no-Iname the leader of the Soga Tribe, an anceint Japanese faction.

Their son was named Sushun, and as time passed he grew in political favor. His father passed away and was replaced by Yomei as Emporer. When Yomei died Sushun was the likely replacement, but he was met by opposition by his own brother,Anahobe, who also wanted to be emporer. Anahobe was supported by the Mononobe Tribe, rivals of the Soga Tribe that supported Sushun. A great battle was fought and Anahobe was killed and Sushun took his place as emporer.

As Sushun's reign progressed Umako took control of the Soga Tribe and began to gain much power. As Umako's power grew Sushun grew resentful of him. On a hunting trip Sushun slew a wild boar and talking to his companions said I wish to slay Umako as I have slayed this boar.

Umako learned of this and in fear of being killed first sent his assassins to kill Sushun...

The Assassin waited in the water outside the Western Tea House of the Palace. Waiting for his prey to come...

The time comes, and the Emporer comes through the entrance. The Assassin pulls himself over the railing and draws his Katana in seconds, lunging towards Sushun.

A Guard turns the corner when he hears the noise, but it is to late. The Assassins blade has taken Emporer Sushun and he falls back down to the ground dead. The Assassin flees accross the bridges and dissapears into the forest.

And so this is the tale of Emporer Sushun, his life taken by the same hand that had once brought him to power...

Simple and beautiful builds! The rockwork is fantastic; I love the green highlights. The roof was inspired and the use of the Rock Monster head as a stone is quite clever ;)
