Years pass, and even legends age. The trick is to do it gracefully.
About this creation
So, I was wasting some time on youtube when I stumbled on THIS nice video called a History of Gringat. The narration felt so nostalgic that I sort of saw Gringat as an old man, recalling his glorious past.
In his old age, Gringat the Goblin retired from adventuring, and returned to his first passion: tinkering. He retired in a mine, and started to turn the raw minerals in all sorts of marvels.
One of his first creations was the Battle Rod. This awesome weapon can be used with one or both hands, and it's also a great help for Gringat's bad leg.
Though but a shadow of the Storm Lord of old, Gringat is cunning, experienced and well equipped. Even in his retirement, he's not to be trifled with.
GET OFF MY LAWN!
Blacklight. Just saw I forgot to give him a heartlight, but I won't do it all over for that.
Gringat's head was in the first Bricklink order I made from my new place, and I couldn't wait for my other stuff to get here before making a version of him, so I had to make do with my 9 d-green pieces. Thus, I decided to make him mostly black, more appropriate for a creature living in the dark tunnels of a mine, and I even cut out the silver (too shiny).
Instead of his trademark head wings, I used the same "V" shape to give Old Man Gringat a superb handlebar moustache. I think it really brings out the age factor.
Bonus: a little experiment with all those glow-in-the-dark pieces. The guy is irrelevant, so he doesn't have a name.
Now, off to play some Torchlight II. Comments are welcome :)
I liked that his back and shoulders are sorta hunched, suggesting being stooped from age. Bad leg, too, rotten luck. Ah, well... happens to us all. I'll just sit here in my Rocker for MOCers, rest my drink on my Walker's cup-holder, sip my Geritol while my dentures soak, and use the Clapper to turn out the lights when I can't keep my eyes propped open anymore. =) As Ludgonius says, it's a long uphill walk to the Battle tomorrow; both ways. Gotta Rest Up. (nice bit of nostalgia Yuri - cheers on the new place, and enjoy Torchlight II. (Holding out for BioShock Infinite, m'self. Could be awhile, eh?... =D)
