G'taari Research Base 3
The Republic Space Exploration Bureau (RSEB) has authorized research of the newly-discovered planet G'taari, which literally means (In the Ghyggfsy language) "Living islands".
About this creation
Built for MOCAthalon category "Alien Landscape", go Team Zodiacs!
This was a blast to build, but I'm afraid the photography is not up to my usual standard. The giant satellite message tower throws off the depth, but I didn't have the heart to remove it, nor a camera that could tackle such a shot. Also, the pond has a cutaway section in the base with some fish and bottom-feeders swimming around, but I couldn't get a decent shot of that at all. D:
Nevertheless, I had to post, and can only hope you all enjoy it. :

G'taari is is completely unlike any other planet documented so far. Its plants and animals are unique, but what really makes it special is its geology.

Sixty percent percent of the planet surface is covered in an ocean of viscous, mineral-rich mud, which despite its unappealing appearance and texture is home to trillions of lifeforms, like these tentacle fungus, for example. The other forty percent is land, but unlike any other planet's land. This land consists of untethered islands that float freely like icebergs!

In order to safely conduct research of the flora, fauna and resources, visiting scientists have secured several islands in place using a system of centrifuging actuators that create a stabilizing gyroscopic force. They have also set up lev-walkways to travel between islands.

The geologists, botanists, zoologists, and other researchers on G'taari are employing these probots, taking pictures...

...tracking wildlife...

..taking samples...

...and overall mapping out the place.

When they are done, they take their finds to the satellite tower which sends the data offworld, back to RSEB's labs.

The ultimate goal of the RSEB is to determine whether there is intelligent life on this G'taari.

Apparently there is, and it's found our journeyers here! :D

Quoting Thoy Bradley It is a bit cluttered, but that could be the 'undisturbed' look your were going for. Alien? Yes. Landscape? Yes. Interesting? Yes. I think a few more obvious alien species would have taken this to a five. 4 points. ~Thoy
Thank you, for the advice and the score. :D

Thanks all!
Quoting Lindel Baskin Wow! :D I love the plantlife, very alien. The scorpions built into the arms of that black insectiod in the corner is a very cool use of the piece.
Yes, that is a Ghyggfsy, I've made them before but never incorporated them into an MOC. There's some pictures of them in my photostream. :)

There is so much going on here, you really needed about 4 times as much space to flesh out all your ideas. 4 points for the details and effort.
