Experimental Bio-Mechanical Hybrid 001 "Prodromus"
(No, it is not leaning against the wall.) Protip:Never make something this big, it has no balance, is too heavy for itself, and overall just frustrating to make. On the plus side it'll look pretty awesome.
About this creation
Ah it's good to be back. I finally have my lego's around again (long story) and to celebrate I thought I would make the biggest thing I've ever made! Bad idea... I should have learned from when I build the "blood shedder" or whatever I called it several years ago, things this big get really frustrating. I could barely get this thing to stand up, and it couldn't even lift its own arms because they were to heavy! I gave this thing all the joints it would need to theoretically have a similar scope of movement to a normal person, but alas the whole thing would just fall over if I tried to get it into, for example, a running or firing pose. A bit depressing, I had all these idea's for cool pose I wanted it to make. Ah well, still looks cool enough.
(note, please forgive grainy-ness of photo's, all I had was my measly ipod touch)
Can YOU guess the anime that inspired certain aspects of the Prodromus?

Designed during the advent of bio-mechanical technology, the Prodromus was the first mech of its kind, the archetype of "psuedo human" class mech. It was an experimental mech designed to be the most "human" mech in existence, not only in shape but also in infrastructure. The Prodromus boasted bio-alloy bones and muscles designed as a macrocosm of their human counterparts, down to the level of newly developed bio-mechanical nanite cells and nerves. This allowed for increased core strength of limbs, greater range of movement, the integration of appendages such as hands which with older technology was impossible, which subsequently opened up possibilities for much more efficient weapon handling and refitting, the ability for self repair when supplied with materials, and an exponential increase in the efficiency of Nuero-Link piloting. This new technology allowed for the Prodromus to be the most agile, fast, and adaptive mech in existence. While older mechs were slow, hulking beasts, the Prodromus could sprint, jump, and preform feats never before possible. It was extremely efficient at dealing with enemy mechs, and at close range the Prodromus was unstoppable (some variations employed various melee weapons, such as swords, spears, knifes, and katanas. One design even went as far as to add claws). The experimental design was a huge success, and designs for variations were quickly underway. Technological advance at this scale could not be kept secret for long, and mechs based off the Prodromus soon started to appear in other countries. This new technology came at a price, an extremely large one in fact. Creating a Prodromus based mech required extreme funds and diversion of budget, and even the more prosperous countries could only manufacture a small amount. At its advent only five countries had mechs based off the Prodromus, none of them having over three. Every government continued to use less expensive, mass produced mechs until bio-mechanical technology was further perfected, and by that time the Prodromus mechs were obsolete. With bio-tech perfected mechs could be created entirely out of hybrid bio-alloy materials (such as the "Silverslash") at a lower cost and with a greater efficiency rating. Although the period between the Prodromus and the great bio-tech advent lasted several hundred years, the Prodromus design never reached a point where it was mass produced. More than anything, the Prodromus stood as a symbol of technological advancement and hope for the future.

Close up on the leg

Backshot. I really like how the shape turned out. It was less difficult getting a design at this angle than I thought it would be.

A access hatch (also helps me push out the ANCC)

The Prodromus utilized the newest form of neuro-link technology. Previously neuro-links were somewhat limited, allowing only partial connection to the mech. With the newly integrated Augmented Nuero Connection Capsule, or ANCC, the pilot could reach a whole other plane of neuro connectivity never before obtained. The ANCC would divert conscious commands directly to the mech, thus if you, for instance, tried to move your arm, the mech's arm would move and not your own. The pilot would "see" through the mechs eyes, move with the mechs limbs, and to an extent even "feel" with the newly developed bio-technology (it is said some countries even integrated pain in an attempt to improve performance). The pilots consciousness was essentially integrated with the mech. But this technology had heavy draw backs. Each ANCC had to be mapped to their pilots. While the ANCC's could be used in different mechs, they could not use different pilots. Because of this the pilots were often at the center of assassination plots, it was much easier to kill the pilot and have your enemy go through the long training and neuro-mapping progress than to kill the mech itself.

It even opens!

A look inside.

The ANCC is not a part of the Prodromus, but a separate piece of equipment. It is interchangeable between mechs and can even be ejected in times of emergency

A macrocosm of a normal gun, the Prodromus uses an interchangeable Railgun shaped as a rifle. This is not only convenient on the battlefield as weapons can easily be changed as per the situation requires, it also gives the pilot a sense of familiarity. Ammunition type is interchangeable, serving different uses such as incendiary, explosive, armor piercing, and bunker buster. As there are many different variations to Prodromus design mechs, there were also many different weapons employed by different countries. The originally Prodromus only had one set of inbuilt weapons, its shoulder mounted auto targeting missile racks. Some variations had these removed and others added more inbuilt weapons. Some say there were one or two that could even launch thermonuclear weapons, but of course this was denied by all who were questioned on the matter.

You can see here the technic used to stabilize the mech. While making it I thought I had everything covered, and totally forgot about the issue of weight and balance... It was depressing when it hit me as I tried to stand it up.

As you can see, theoretically flexibly, but in real life it can't hold its weight :/ ah well

Gutted it a bit so you could see the infrastructure, still can't see some of the upper torso though...
Well there you go, my first creation in serveral years, and hopefully of more to come! (well before college in a few months that is)

Quoting Ryan Wilhelm Love a lot of the details, including the pilot pod. You really should take another go at something along these lines, maybe just a bit smaller?
I have one or two similar one's already, although they are more than a little smaller

Quoting Mike Johnson It's quite apparent you put a low of work into this mech but I think the pics are what's the problem here. The dim yellow lighting makes it hard to make out any of the details. If possible I would try taking some shots outside to see if that helps any.
I would, but its already in about a billion pieces spread across the floor, so I can't :/ Dah well
