Thanks for having a look at my completed project. I had a bit of a wait for parts and holidays to delay the final build, but nothing can get in the way of a build in the end. I struggled a bit on the bridge area design and getting the aesthetics right to the over-all ships shape, looking over a lot of Sci-Fi stuff for inspiration. See if you can guess where the end product derives from. Here are some ship details: 164 Studs long - 51 inches 82 Studs wide - 24 inches 58 Studs depth - 18 inches
About this creation

This Pic shows the full hull.
This is a great angle to imagine you are on docking approach and seeing this beastly ship just
get bigger and bigger and then realise, "holy flute at band camp. Thatís not the docking bay at
the front, it's a weapon". Star Blazers influence; of course!!
Hull Stats:
4 x Rotating heavy PPC cannons (particle projection cannons) 2 at stern and 2 at bow.
14x Pulse lasers
8x Twin rotating proton cannons. 4 on port and 4 on starboard located from mid section to the stern.
2x Twin rotating Ion cannons located at stern wing tips.
2x Quad magnetic mine launchers located to the side of the Ion cannons.
1x Mid range tracking array located near hanger bay.
1x Deep space tracking array located centre stern.
4x Hanger bay Ship guidance arms (Tractor beams). These are the pole arms on each side of the hanger bay.
2x Shield generator towers located mid stern.
4x Auxiliary shield generators. 2 each near where the ship stands have been edited out (poorly I admit).

The rest is just fun greebs to look as functional and meant to be there as possible. It is a lot more scarce
in greebling than the deck due to a focus on heavy armour plating for planetary re-entry and classic ship
hull designs.

I love this shot. It really captures the full scope of what this Cruiser has going on. Lots of greebling, and that
primary weapon looking like the ship was just built to cover it, but it was toooooo big!!!!
Port and Starboard stats (these are per side, not total and listed bow to stern):
1x Shield generator tower.
38x pulse laser (scattered).
8x rapid fire frag cannons located to the left of the black shield generator tower.
1x 4 tube torpedo launcher located further left of frag cannons.
1x twin medium proton cannon.
1x "Balls head" shield buster missile located; well thatís obvious!!
1x Rapid fire rotary guided missile launcher located mid stern.
The blue flat tiles bow to stern are turning stabilisers.

Bay doors open and ready for launching. The large flat grey tiles are the internal hanger areas closed. These
slide open with 6 launch bays per side of various sizes for the array of ships held on board.
168x Mk IV Super Star Fighters "The Blue Steel Reapers". I have a mini fig scale build of this already; pics coming real soon.
20x Light armoured "Cheetah" Class troop carrier drop ships. Fig size Under construction.
20x Heavy "Armadillo" Class ground assault drop ships. Fig size Under, under construction.
12x Heavy "Blue wing" Transport shuttles located top deck - scattered. Fig size under, under, under construction.
42x Ground assault "Rhino" Tanks. Yep, I'm working on it!!
200x Armoured APV troop carriers. Yep!!
And all the other assorted ground and ship assault bits that can be listed, but I'm sure you all can imagine.
Some of my earlier build updates show the internals from both sides. Basic, but clean.

This shows off the three main engine and sub-light engine rockets (yeah I know, tyre rockets. But I used two!)
I have included the ship stands and Deep space array in this pic.

This is obviously a very armoured area surrounding the rockets. Better shot of the sub-light engines and rear of bridge.
The red dish above central rocket is a 'quantum field generator' which allows a high powered shield to operate around
the blast radius of rockets and not put the ship in a bubble bake scenario.

The last thing you want in your rear view mirror. You can see 4 of the 12 heavy "Blue wing" transport shuttles top mid bow
section here and clear shot of the primary weapon.
Deck stats are listed from bow to stern and as per side not as total:
1 x Primary Weapon - nicknamed "cheesecake" and from stories told this is because usually the remains of it's target
has a strange similarity in texture. There is not much that can withstand a direct hit from this, but alas it has it's power
drain issue as you could imagine. It is usually a distance attack weapon and has the option of being launched to become
an orbital satellite for clearing drop zone areas. It has a lower power capability this way, but is still quite effective and
has high intensity solar collectors for quick recharging.
36x pulse lasers (scattered.)
1x Heavy 'Saber Mk V' Ion disruptor cannons.
2x Field generator towers.
1x Rapid fire - 8 turret PPC 'Hammer' Cannons.
2x Twin heavy PPC Cannons.
3x Auxiliary shield generators.
2x Heavy 'Saber Mk II' laser cannons.

This shows in detail the heavy PPC cannons (top right), Blue wing shuttles (centre right and middle), PPC 'Hammer' Cannons
(centre left and top), Upper hanger bay slide doors (top left) and 1 of the 6 auxiliary shield generators (black and grey dish)

I will be posting some more pics of Herald 1, as well as the smaller craft to minifig scale as I complete them. Then it's on to the next project; Not sure if it will be a large space station or a re-fuelling ship yet.
MOC-on!!

Thanks Christophe. Definitely full of detail...maybe a little too much;) but hey, it was sooooo much fun to greeb out. Herald 1 is at dismantling stage now to get ready for a new big MOC ship. Still a few months out for this new one. Aussie out.

Quoting Eric Landreneau Great build, impressively big and nicely shaped. It would be visually better with less "stuff" clogging up the flank and topside. Even better color control helps with this. Looks like you've improved that with your more recent dropship. Keep it up!
Thanks for taking a look and the constructive comments are always appreciated. It was a steep learning curve building Herald 1 and the pointers from everyone certainly helped with the Dropship build. More pics coming this weekend. MOC-on

Quoting Rennesis @war Nice MOC, look at the size of this thing. Can't wait to see more photo's of it's details.
Thanks mate, The only unfortunate thing is with big builds is photos never do justice. Being able to sit and look over this is much better (of course). I have been a bit slack getting more pics up and should have some up after Easter break. MOC-on

Quoting Isaac The Awesome! (founder of i Brick) Holy cat's This huge! Awesome work!
Thanks your awesomeness. For a first big MOC I even impressed myself and my 5 year old Lego fanatic thinks I am a Lego wizard/Avenger/X-man. As a Dad this is a very cool feeling and he is a determined little fellow to do some cool builds too!! I will have to get him a page soon I think. I brick, you brick, we all brick!! Aussie land out.

Quoting Reaper the Ultimate . Well. This SHIP take my (unposted) SHIP and slams it into a planet. You beat me on overall firepower, length, breadth, depth, and pretty much everything. Except ramming capabilities. I love this. It probably is a bit cluttered, which makes it a little tricky to look at, but otherwise awesome.
Thanks for the comments Reaper. This was my first big MOC and a free hand build with no real direction but ideas and trial and error. The frustrating thing was not having all the wanted parts, but hey, I'll just have to grow the collection. I really wanted more flats to combat my greeb addiction. I have been sketching some new builds on the smaller craft of this ship and have the Blue Steel super fighter built and nearly picture ready for the upload. I have a shot with an X-wing for comparison and I can say the force would not help Luke this timeÖhahaha Keep on MOCing mate Adam Tg

Quoting Vladimir van Hoek You and I suffer the same condition; upon seeing a large, smooth brick surface our hands start shaking, palms sweaty and then, tunnel vision. I think you have overdone the greebling and actually could have used some smooth surfaces for contrast. The overall shape and design of this monster looks cool though, it is just a little cluttered...
I would agree totally Vladimir. I have learnt alot from this build and aesthetically a mid point between deck and hull would suffice. But my greeb shrink says I have to take it one step at a time. I guess I will just have to build lots more to help overcome my affliction :) Keep on MOCing

Quoting matt rowntree Fantastic vessel! I was thinking at first that everything going on with the greebles was distracting, but looking closer at it, all the color and texture make sense. The level of detail is mesmerizing in a great way. Brilliant!!!
Cheers Matt. I am going post some more detailed pics soon as it is always hard to scope area detail on big ships. I understand the mesmerizing comment; my wife is waiting for me to start saying "my precious" ha ha ha. MOC-on

Quoting David Alexander Smith I love the detailing on the hull, with lots of little splashes of colour. This thing looks like a real working ship, patched together, repaired and still firing all thrusters into the outer reaches of space. Fantastic work.
Thanks David. I really wanted to get across a working ship packed with the intricate details of engineering and utility parts. Glad you enjoyed. Adam TG
