MELO R4: Matthew Oh vs. Jacob Nion
Orthanc Bracket
About this creation
Category: Mount Doom
The climax of the quest! A volcano, nine-fingers, and the end of "the Precious". Make every brick count!

Link: The Middle Earth Lego Olympics, and my worthy opponent Jacob Nion, and his amazing entry!

I decided to get as close to the movie as my pieces would allow, with my imagination taking over every now and then. :D I had basically 1 day to build this entry, since I was waiting for some pieces. Thanks for viewing, and best of luck Jacob!

I decided to do an irregular baseplate, and I think it turned out well! I might do more of them in the future. :D This is one of my favorite creations so far, even though it was a rushed entry, since the MocAthalon has arrived.

Of course, I had to include a playability, as you will see....

I was trying to take a picture of the lava, but the camera was acting funny, and made this misty earthquake like picture! I did not edit this photo at all, except to crop. I love this picture!

I am not extremely pleased with the lava, but I think it turned out all right.

The cliff falls off with just a slight push! I love making my builds playable, and hope to do more in the future!

And the overview of the whole moc again.

Thanks for viewing, and enjoy!

Soli Deo Gloria!

Matthew

Quoting Jacob Nion Very cool scene! I wish I would have these trans orange parts. Originally, I wanted to make my lava similar.
Haha, thanks Jacob! I love your entry, and good luck in the next round!
Quoting Paul Vermeesch Stunning work, Matthew! The subtle masonry elements, the playability, the rockwork, and that awesome artistic shot all make this a very impressive entry.
Thanks Paul! I am glad that you noticed the masonry bricks! You have a sharp eye for detail!
Quoting Max Pointner Nice build here! I am voting for your opponent, however. I think his take on the category was more original and he captured the scene well. Great work! You have played well.
Thanks Max! I actually am pleased with being knocked out, so that I can now focus on the MA, and sorting.....oh right...sorting... :D
Quoting Michael Kringe Awesome entry! I love the rock-work and the playability. This was a very close match, but in the end I decided to vote for your opponents build, because his amazing eagle design convinced me. Good luck with the other judges!
Thanks Michael! Yeah, his eagle was superb!
