About this creation
Bracket: Barad Dur

Opponent's Entry: Simon S.

Contest: Middle Earth Lego Olympics

Category: "We could take them to Her..."
If you you've got arachnophobia, you're doomed. I'm actually not one to talk, but it's SPIDER TIME!! Slightly worse than a haunted house, build us Shelob's lair!!! Or just a segment of it, or just Shelob, or whatever, as long as it fits the category!

Overview pictures

Gollum watching the scene

Frodo's view

Some food for next weekend

The spider without landscape

Landscape without the spider

And also a special information for all the purist builders: The strings are original LEGO !

I hope you enjoy my entry, so that we will see again in the next round !

I like the work with the strings and the rocks. I really think that making rocks is a quite good way of grade builders. I choose this as Lego Pic of the Week this week. Thanks. http://thebrickinthesky.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1788&action=edit&message=6&postpost=v2

Awesome MOC! You're now in the semi-finals!

~Martin

Thank you for all your motivating comments, I am glad you like my creation. And especially thanks to the judges for their work and their decision !
Quoting David . You must own a ton of Shelobs to have obtained all that, and I can hardly think of what a bother it was to string up the whole thing.
I got only one Shelob set. I ordered about 15 strings at Bricklink, they actually have been really cheap. It was so amazing to unpack it, because it looked like a huge amount of capes.

Genial! @ Nate: I agree, but it's also difficult to build a spider's lair without white strings... ;)

*sigh* I've looked at this at least four times, wondering what kind of comment to leave. It is so amazing, I can scarcely know what to say without the having the regular cliche 'good job' to it. The first thing I notice is the strings. Good gravy! You must own a ton of Shelobs to have obtained all that, and I can hardly think of what a bother it was to string up the whole thing. Shelob is excellent as well, the tires as legs is a very neat touch. The rockwork; superb, very nice there. Great work Disco, I can definitely see you advancing. (Even before you advanced, lol!)

Absolutely amazing! The rockwork is fantastic and the use of tires for Shelob's legs... inspired. The criss-crossing strings are a genius way to get across the creepy feel of "Her" lair. Brilliant work!

You've got my vote! While Simon produced an excellent entry, I think yours takes the cake. I like your composition, part-usage (particularly the "Lego" string), and Shelob design a tad better. Good luck with your other judges!
