Blackbirds and the Spider
About this creation
I was looking through some more of my old paintings following the upload of my Bird Tree MOC, and came across one called the Blackbird's problem. I uploaded it to Flickr yesterday (it is on my Flickr page - here). It got me thinking, maybe I could make a related MOC about the games of romantic gesture. I came up with this build, which is a kind of Fin de siècle dance between two lovers, channeled through Little Miss Muffet.

tought provoking abstract art, I like those as well, refreshing, deep, toughtful yet simple sculptures, at first glance it seems like an ironical look at love, between innocent beings, both french and english languages reffer birds as being 'light headed' when labeling or insulting someone, the spider represent the 'predator' or catastrophy, or death...of love I suppose, well done!

To me the spider has the look of the shadow that's in your other works: I don't know if that's intentional. I suppose that it's hanging there in the air, perhaps symbolising all of the unsaid or undone things that are present in all relationships. Another thought provoking build and a wonderful contrast to your space things. I love how works like this one appear in between your rovers and spaceships.

Vanessa (my wife) refused to have it on the mantlepiece unless I removed the birds heads from the figures.

Quoting Topsy Creatori (StoveTopCreator!) Reminded me of all the interesting courtship rituals birds have, and that a lot of birds mate for life. Also, I just watched the NOVA program on Crows... crows(as well as, ravens, magpies, etc.) are very intelligent birds who also mate for life. Something to think about... 'mating for life' ensured the continuation of the species... hmmm?! :)
In my artwork birds always todo in for familial relationships. Crows and blackbirds especially. Might consider a magpie MOC one day.

Quoting Gale Winthrope Whimsical, colorful, and strange. Yup, sounds like another David masterpiece. The spider's almost evil grin both creeps me out and makes me wonder what exactly it he is doing up there. Well done :)
A grin is always scarier than a grimace. That's what I think, maybe because as you note intentions are unclear.
