WMS-003X Sylphion
"So, this Mobile Suit was first used by the SCIONs?" "The who?" "The SCIONs. You know, that super-secret group of super soldiers?" "You mean that group that never existed and eliminates all knowledge of their presence?" "Yeah, them. Wait, I'm already dead, aren't I?" "Bye."
About this creation

The WMS-003X Sylphion Mobile Suit was first used by Project SCION and later by the rest of the Western Hemisphere Alliance. It is the first mass-produced Mobile Suit to implement three new concepts. First, it uses beam weaponry. It also uses a compact nuclear fission reactor as a power source. Lastly, it is the first mass-produced Mobile Suit that is capable of operating on the ground, in the air, and in space with no modifications needed.

The lower legs of the Sylphion are vastly different than those of previous Mobile Suits. Their angled design helps deflect both physical projectiles and beam weapons.

The back of the lower legs show the new advances that have been made in AMBAC technology.

The advanced skirt armor also features angular design.

The torso of the Sylphion.

The cockpit open, revealing the advanced and upgraded control systems.

The back of the Sylphion, which houses the fission reactor.

The lower thrusters are mainly used for space maneuvering, but do offer some assistance in atmospheric flight.

The main thrusters are mounted onto the shoulders, and are able to provide self-sustaining atmospheric flight. They are also able to function in space.

The shield features the symbol of the SCIONs.

The shield mounts to the shoulder armor to allow the Mobile Suit to utilize both hands for combat.

A handle is installed on the shield in case it is needed to be held by hand.

The handle is able to rotate outwards. Once it is engaged by the Mobile Suit's hand, it detaches from the shoulder mount.

The head of the Sylphion. It closely resembles a Gundam. Hmm...

The beam rifle, which is the first mass-produced beam projectile weapon. Part of the power is fed from the Mobile Suit itself through special plugs in the hands, while the rest of the components needed to create the beam are stored in the rechargeable E-Packs. Each E-Pack is able to fire about thirty shots before it needs to be recharged on a special recharge station on the Mobile Suit. This ability to self-charge the E-Packs gives the Sylphion virtually limitless ammunition.

The beam rifle is able to be stored on the left hip skirt armor when not in use. This will also recharge the E-Pack that is currently locked into the beam rifle.

A single beam blade is mounted underneath each forearm.

The beam blade activated. Having a melee weapon equipped on the forearms is signature of the SCIONs.

The designated melee weapon is mounted on the right hip skirt armor. It is a large sword that folds in half when not is use.

The sword is connected directly to the fission reactor in order to form the powerful beam blade.

The massive sword is drawn and the blade is activated.

After the dissolving of the SCIONs (which occurred when they revolted and fought against each other), the Western Hemisphere Alliance removed the neurological-link operating system and replaced it with one that normal pilots could use. It received a new color scheme as was designated as the WMS-003M Sylphion. This "new" Mobile Suit would replace the WMS-002 Verstilis as the WHA's mainstay Mobile Suit.

*Twitch's Remarks*
This came about from when I wanted to create a Mobile Suit that did not look like nor resemble a standard Mobile Suit. The mass-produced Mobile Suits from Gundam 00 instantly came to mind because they did not resemble the ZAKU in any way. I immediately looked to Sylphion and his Mechs since they are very unorthodox and very unique. So I took his GPM-01 'Versailles' and merged it with the Mobile Suit frame that I use, which originates from Mithryl Altaire. Thus, this Mobile Suit was created. The legs, torso, and head are all from Sylphion, albeit the joints have been slightly modified to work with the Mobile Suit frame and allow for the skirt armor. The shoulder-mounted thrusters are from Sylphion's ESN-4M 'Caballus' since they are just that awesome. The lower arms are slightly modified from the Versailles in order to work with the MS frame, but I tried to keep to the original design. The shield, upper arms and shoulders, and weapons are all of my own design. The large sword was influenced both by the sword wielded by Destiny Gundam (the size and folding idea) and by the GN-Flag (being connected directly to the Mobile Suit's power source). Even though this is a mash-up that is largely based on Sylphion's work, I am pleased with how this turned out after I added my own personal touches to it. I think that it is a fitting tribute, which is why it is named the "Sylphion."

Quoting Sylphion - Definitely the arms, it fixes a lot of the inflexibility issues that is quite bothersome in the original design
I am quite fond of the basic arm frame design myself since it is quite ingenious and a nice usage of parts. Mithryl did quite well with that.

Quoting Sylphion - How have I failed to comment on this work of art?! I like what you've done with it, perhaps you can use this as a base for future upgrades/variations!
How did you miss it? You are a poohead and you made me think that you did not love me anymore, that is how. Ha ha, I am only joking. As stated in the previous comments, I think I will redesign the shield to be able to open up and shoot something. Work in progress. So what is your favorite part? Besides having something named after you.

Quoting Klushots (Formerly Me23456789) I think it's safe to assume that I'm completely unfamiliar with anything Gundam-related. I did look it up, though, and I think I see where you're going with that train of thought. Are you talking about turning the shield itself into a ranged weapon sort of like what I did with my Vanguard? It's a good idea. No one ever expects to be shot at by a shield.
My apologies, I forget that you are not familiar with Gundam. You need to go fix that. But yes, I was thinking of installing something like the Harmonica Cannon where the front of the shield opens up to reveal lots of beam weapons.

Quoting Klushots (Formerly Me23456789) I like how the difference between this and all your other mechs is very noticeable. It makes it feel more like it actually was created by a fourth(?) party that is significantly more advanced than the others. One small critique I have is that where the waist connects to the legs it sort of just flattens out instead of sloping together. But it still looks good even taking that into consideration. With regard to Thomas' comment about adding something to the shield, I'll take a page from Sylphion's suggestion book and say go for some form of hidden smaller secondary blade.
This Mobile Suit was initially produced for Project SCION, which has always had more advanced and experimental weaponry than anyone else. I thought about another blade in the shield, but then I realized that it has one mounted underneath each forearm, which are pretty hidden and do not need to be drawn like a normal blade. ER MAH GERD the idea just hit me. Are you familiar with the G-X Divider?

Quoting Thomas Z. A very nice mashup of styles and parts here! I'm glad the head and leg designs that I came up with evolved this much! The gun's design is really cool. Maybe you should add some extra functions to the shield, like a granade launcher or something, cuz it looks a bit too simple for me. I also like the cockpit, it's very detailed. A job well done sir! Looking forward for the next creation!
Thank you! I decided to go a different direction with the firearm since it is a beam weapon. Instead of making it look conventional I went with more of a "pew pew pew LAZARZ" look. Perhaps this will receive an upgrade later on that will add more functions to the shield.
