My Paris corner scene.
About this creation
Here is my Paris corner scene 'Avenue Saint-Jacques'. It is based on the Haussmann style which is found in most of central Paris. It's taken me nearly 2 months to complete after various orders coming through.

If MOC pages is down or does not display the pictures very well you can also find the pictures on my FlickR stream here.

The building is on six floors not the usual 7 to be found with most buildings as I ran out of bricks :) Some interior details I am not that sure are accurate for the period or style but chose to go with them anyway!

I chose not to do a diagonal corner (Found with most buildings) as I could not make a smooth wall that I was happy with. I also decided not to make a stacked modular building as I have done in the past to allow better access to the interior details and also its difficult to mix the 'cladded' vertical effect with stacking without unsightly gaps. The building is hinged at the side to allow access to the interior. This was the most challenging aspect of the build.

At street level there is a cafe and shop selling ladieswear. On the pavement there is a 'Art Noveau' metro station. The next floor up houses an office and dental surgery. The 4 floors above contain apartments, some with bathrooms and kitchens. A central stairwell gives access to the rooms (The floors vary in height which so some staircases vary slightly)

There are 22 rooms in all so plenty of pictures.

****
There are now instructions available for purchase if you wish to replicate the build here I am not the ebay seller or instructions designer, but gave my permission in this instance.

Quoting Jason Liu Hi, first thing first, this is absolutely amazing and is such a masterpiece. I have read the experience of building it and I have looked at the photos and I don't quite get what it is exactly like at the back. It is closed? or is it opened? in the experience it said he had to make a custom rear but in your photos it seems that you can close it completely, and in some photos the stairs are missing..
Hi, thanks for the very kind words. The building has an open back so you can see maybe 2/3 of the interior then the corner is hinged to allow access to the interior, the hinge comes out towards the front. It's perhaps difficult to explain. It was the only way I could allow easy access to small rooms such as the bathrooms and kitchens. There is only one staircase which leads to entrances on each floor.Try my flickr stream here maybe this will help as some of the pictures are expandable. http://www.flickr.com/photos/52656812@N04/sets/72157632724824993/

Quoting Tom R I lived in Paris for a couple years. Very nostalgic and would like to build it. Tried to find and order on eBay. couldnt find or order. Any suggestions
Hi, there is a link to the ebay listing just before the pictures start where instructions can be purchased but I do not make or sell the instructions. The seller however has my permission to do so. Hope this helps!

If I was a minifigure, this is where I'd live! The detail in all your builds is just epic. The Lego Group should hire you for the modular buildings theme! Great work! 6/5

Quoting Robert P I purchased instructions for this model on eBay and I am about 2/3 finished with re-creating it. I have added a clip on rear that aims to replicate the front of the building and I have added windows to each side for which the original design did not have any windows. This has been a wonderful challenge. I am new to MOC pages, is it OK to post photos of the finished product , while highlighting the modifications?
Hello. I would suggest getting a brickshelf account uploading the pictures there and linking it here. Hope this helps.

Quoting Allan Hall another fantastic build, I like the fact you build freehand too, I think it's so much more fun.
Thanks! I've tried to use LDD but just can't get into it. Maybe I'm old fashioned! :D

Wonderfull and lots of details. Fantastic the way the subway entrance is made, the mime player, the wooden doors. Also the fact that it opens up is even more stunning. This is something one likes to build in LDD It should be even better than any modular building Lego put on the market. A joy to watch.

Quoting Karen Guise Your eye for the tiniest detail, and the flawless execution thereof...amazing, just amazing. We need a new rating system, because you have just raised the bar to a whole new level. I hope someday you will sell instructions. I am obsessed with your interiors, the furniture, the retro refrigerators... And the Metro Station...genius. And the doors with the transom above... Love every detail.
Thank you! The reason I don't do instructions is that my mocs are made freehand and not on LDD. I can't remember how I did things sometimes! :D This build started with the desire to make the metro station and not the other way around! :D

Quoting Marcus Paul Whoa! What a fantastic build! That facade ... Amazing, couldn't be done better. And the interiors are fantastic, too. And the car ... (Hopefully we get this separately, too?) I really love your art-deco stuff but here you have outdone yourself!
Thanks! I hope to get some better pics of the car and get a shot of all 6 together soon. Maybe I'll do an equally scaled art deco building in the future!

Quoting stefan erismann Very nice building, how high is it in centimeters? The interrior is great, I like the floors with the different colours of tiles and the street scene is very detailed: street musician, cyclist, metro station.
Thank you! It is 76cm to the top of the chimneys.
