Darvangast presses strongly against the impeding forces of the Goblin army. He struggles to fight them off, even with his other friends. Will they survive?
About this creation
One day as the new Heroica Guild recruits were training a noise was heard as if a thousand wild warriors were about to destroy the place. Thain Once-Hunted looked out across the open fields surrounding the fortress and saw a horde of Goblins coming to raid the Training Grounds. Quickly he barged into the Council Chambers and told them all he had seen.
Skibiljorn the Purple walked out and saw what had happened and gave them all these instructions:
The Goblins have arrived so all of you must defend the training grounds. Council Members will take care of the Goblin Generals.
I misunderstood about the overhang. Although Beardless Dwarf let me off this time, I cannot receive the highest points for this quest. I had lots of fun building it, even though it didn't fit correctly with the overhang.
Even if you aren't part of the Heroica RPG group, I hope you will still enjoy this creation.
The text will be directly above the photos.
Yup, Darth Vader's helmet is hidden in ONE of the pictures! When you comment, if you want to, guess what picture it's hiding in! When guessing, give the number picture that is directly above each picture. This picture of Darth Vader's helmet does NOT count as a picture, neither does the title picture. Have fun!

Avenbilst the Cunning is the last of the Level 1 Heroica heroes that is leaving the training grounds. A druid is giving him some last encouraging words, "Until we meet again my friend."
1.

Here is the whole battle.
2.

A Wizard is shooting a goblin warrior(this would have been Skibiljorn the Purple, but I don't have any purple torsos).
3.

A Ranger is slapping one of the higher-up goblin warriors with a long-ranged whip.
4.

A Barbarian is wildly swinging his ax. p.s. he loves chicken.
5.

Darvangast the Strong (a Knight) (aka. me) is fighting the Goblin General.
6.

View of the battle.
7.

If you look to the right where all of the black is, you'll see a figure (he was also in the main photo a bit) that has a black cape, that's a Rogue that's planning to sneak in from behind the army.
8.

Here is how the scene should look without the minifigures. It's all ready for the trainees to begin....well....training.
9.

First we have a section of training that familiarizes the trainees about the dark forests there are in Heroica. It stimulates the feel and danger it has.
10.

If you go to the middle here, a creature with long tentacles will try to grab you and pull you under the surface. (don't worry trainees, it's tame and it can't pull you under because of some metal beams we put under the sand here.
11.

Another section of the training grounds is "poisonous encounters." This familiarizes the trainees with things that may look good to eat (i.e. the fruit on the tree) but are not so. It also makes them aware of scorpions, spiders, and snakes that are plentiful in the wild.
12.

Moving on to the 4th section we see a dummy that may act as bait for the heroes to investigate when, from above, goblins may have a trap ready to dump on them!
13.

The Fifth section includes two black dummies that the trainers use to help develop the trainees' fighting skills.
14.

The final section reflects some of the possibilities of different plants and vines that could be used by goblins to capture heroes.
15.

Here are some tree trunk designs I made.
16.

17.

18.

Here is the top portion of the training facility that overlooks the training grounds.
19.

Here is how I supported the upper section.
20.

Here are just some accessories like weapons, boxes, and such.
21.

22.

23.

I'll bet you didn't see this coming! I made a little fireplace to cook some food for trainees and trainers or for just warming hands on windy days.
24.

I'm pretty happy with how the rug/flooring turned out for this little corner.
25.

One of my favorite parts of this MOC is this awesome accessory:
The feather pen and ink!
26.

Darth Vader's is in one of the preceding photos. The rest of these pictures are of the minifigures. The last picture is the main photo again, so if you haven't found him, go back and look!
Here we have the goblins! The first two pictures following this text are your normal, everyday, goblin soldiers.

Some higher-up ranking goblin warriors.

The best goblins.

Here we have our heroes! We have (going from left to right):
Ranger, Wizard, Barbarian.

The Druid and the Rougue with their hood and mask.

The Rogue also has knives in the back! (those small rubber bands are awesome!)

Darvangast the Strong (me) and the last escapee Avenbilst the Cunning (Andrew the Jedi Ninja).

Here's the title picture again:

Thanks for looking, God bless!

Amazing, I saw this a couple of days ago, but I forgot to comment. The build is nice and I like your idea of hiding in a piece, good way to get the audience more attracted towards your MOC =D
Oh an before I forget; where did you get your SigFig's pants, they look great.
Thanks! I got the pants from Aragorn.

You've probably already read my score but I need to give my opinion. Overall score: 18/20. Accurateness to Quest description: 10/10. My opinion: 8/10. I like the Training ground part and the other part is good too but they are only connected by a staircase. A bottom on the building and a plate under the stair case would have made it a lot better. I do like the amount of detail in the build though and the feather pen and ink were a really cool use of parts! Yeah, I thought about that, adding stuff underneath, but I just didn't have the time to do so. I definitely agree with you. Thanks!

Very good, I'm building up a fantasy army, so I know what to do with it now! Very good, specially the trees.
I'm glad this helped! I soon hope to get some "real" goblins :) Even when I do, these guys will help making the goblin army huge! There are 24 minifigures in this build :D |

Great build! I like the different sections for the trainees to prepare for all the dangers in Heroica. It's too bad that the Goblins will probably kill or turn the tentacled beast (Sarlaac?) against us. Also the helmet is in picture number 13.
I don't know what the tentacled beast is called...a Sarlaac sounds good! :) Thanks! |

The helmet is in 13, though it's hidden well. Excellent build! The different training areas are a cool concept.
That's what I thought too! I definitely enjoyed that aspect of the build. |

Great job! I love the variety of training sections (especially the grate and the tentacles) and your minfigs are top-knotch.
Thanks! I had fun building those sections :D Yeah, the minifigs took almost as long as building the whole thing! |

Great scene! I like it, although some pictures are blurry and dark. You should use a different camera or edit them to make them look brighter. You probably tried these things but I thought I would mention it. :)
Thanks! I know about my camera, they aren't too bad though. I'll get one when I can afford it (i.e. in a couple of years). In my other MOC, (into the unknown) I used a tripod, with this one, I didn't. What do you think of those pictures? |
