A modification to the Galaxy Squad sets Swarm Interceptor and Space Swarmer.
About this creation
Picked up my first two Galaxy Squad sets, and wanted to make them just a little more awesomerer :-P
Scourge Swarmer
My main modifications were to the Swarm Interceptor, but I altered the Space Swarmer while I was at it, creating the Swarm Scourger
More wings, bigger engines, and a stinger-tail to hold the little bug-skooter from the interceptor set. He can swivel around to shoot above, below, forward and behind.
Gawd this shot was a pain.
Very tiny mods to the skooter; mostly, I just added a gun rack.
What's wrong with the interceptor?!?!
The back looked too flat, like it was missing something.
And the whole rocket-turret thing was just too... dumb. I wanted to improve the playability of the thing.
Swarm Infiltrator
For the Swarm Infiltrator version, I kept in mind a side-scrolling space shooter, ala Gradius and all those kinds of video games.
I suped up the primary vehicle and built a little battlepod for the robot sidekick from the Space Swarmer set.
So much more sexxxxy!
The Swarm infiltrator barrels through the target zone, blasting away with its bevy of forward armament.
New primary thruster, stabilizers and high-powered laser cannons.
New lower stabilizer, cuz it's cool.
Though it has no motive power of its own, the robot's battlepod orbits the fighter at the end of a kinetic tether (tractor beam) providing cover fire in any direction.
Switch!
Rather than abandoning the rear section and flying off in a flat-backed, thrusterless fighter pod, now the pilot takes the new main thruster with him in a sleek, heavily-armed mini-striker.
The Robo-sidekick synchs his battlepod up with the main section, becoming a slower-moving but formidable gunship.
