My worthy opponent's great

Justin Knelsen vs. Linnea Stevens
Category: Duel of the Graybeards
So what do you get when you put two elderly gentlemen in a tower and hand them magical staffs? It's not your typical chess game, I'll give you that much. Now show us the rest!
About this creation
Fourth Wall:
This was probably one of the toughest categories the judges could have dished out for me! My black bricks are next to nil, so I had to beg my brother to go through his giant, unorganized bucket of bricks and let me borrow them. (Thanks a million, bro!!) The reason I didn't do it myself is because I had no time; my classes started this week and college-level chemistry homework is intense!!
But, without further ado: my moc.
I used a humorous slant, and literally went with a chess game.(Well, checkers. I wanted to do a standard black-and-white, but I didn't have enough of the right pieces.) I have a dark confession: those chairs are megablocks. *hides in shame*
I originally wanted to have the floor littered with various board games, but I decided the simple approach was better.
I had to paint Saruman's hair. I literally spent an hour trying to find better hair, but to no avail.
I loved the architectural details in this build. (If I say so myself.)
The throne is definitely my favorite part of the moc. Yes, that is a boat. I attached it with hinges on the back. I also used long hair pieces for the arm rests.(They're also the same shape as Saruman's hair, lol)

Here are the extras games: Monopoly, tic-tac-toe, and an over-sized version of rock-paper-scissors
I realize these will not count as part of my moc, but I wanted to include them anyway.

Thanks to the judges and my opponent! God speed to all the contestants!

I saw this, and I thought I commented, but apparently not. (o)_(o) I wonder why not all three judges voted, though the decision was made, and I also wonder how this got so little comments. It's awesome! Great work Linnea, wonderful build. See you in the next MELO! |

Thanks for the sweet comments guys! I would have absolutly loved to make it to the next round, but at the same time it's a blessing to be out. I have a million and one obligations right now, and even legos was getting stressful. Still, deep thanks to all the judges, and sincere congratulations to Justin! I do believe the best moc won, great job! See ya next year! :D |

A very creative entry Linnea, with some NPU (boat & turntables), but I think your opponent just edged you out on this one with a slightly superior build overall. Sorry to see you go. Thanks for playing the the 2012-13 MELO! |

A very nice entry Linnea! I thought of doing this exact same idea myself but decided a different approach. You have built it very well, the boat technique is a great touch and I love your Sauruman figure. Great entry and good luck to you! :) |

Although the boat technique made it close, your opponent gets my vote. |
