About this creation
For Orthanc Bracket in the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics, against the esteemed opponent A Sargent in the category "The Council of Elrond", I bring you Rivendell. I managed to build this in about ten hours of frantic building over the last two days, inspired by both Dave Kaleta's and Blake Baer and Jack Bittner's versions.

Aragorn: "Don't look now, but really hot elf on the bridge."
Boromir: "Legolas? You know he's a guy, right?"
Aragorn: "Have you seen her hair and fine cheekbones?"
Boromir: "All elves are like that..."
Aragorn: "Well, yeah, but how about the name? 'LEGO Lass', she's obviously an FFOL."
Boromir: "Right..."
(Inspired by The DM of the Rings.)

LEGO Lass hangs out on a bridge.

Some Elvish foliage grows from the rocks.

Haldir: "I swear, if you cut one more tree down I will cut you down!"

The transition between river and waterfall.

A couple of overall shots to end the post.

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks to the judges, competitors, and sponsors for creating such an awesome contest.

EDIT: Here's a close-up of the ripples at the base of the waterfall.

I like how you've made the rocks nearer to the waterfall in darker Lego, so that they look as though they're wet. Neat design work and clever thinking! |

What a stunning waterfall you have created Luke. Impressive detailing and skill certainly went into this Moc. From the graduating transblue to clear caught my eye and the ripple effect is a brilliant touch. WELL DONE and keep up the wonderful builds for 2013. |

Great build, Luke. Love the architecture. Pretty clear what you had in mind even without the description. The bridge over the waterfall is well built. The real victory here is the waterfall though. The transition from blue to clear is great. And those ripples are a nice effect. Good luck in the contest. |
