21.12.2012 i dived the Similan Islands in Thailand and was so amazed that i had to build the main bay called DONALD DUCK BAY.
About this creation
Normally i'm not into building landscapes or even jungles, but as i did my first ever dives in this absolute surreal looking environmet, i had to give this a moc! The waters are so amazingly blue there and these supersmooth round granite boulders everywhere.. It was a bit a challenge to do something organic, round and fading blue as that, but i think i achieved it at least a bit, you might tell me after you've been there ;-) I will definitely soon be back to thailand for some more similan diving to get deeper into this scuba world. What i didn't include into the model (mostly because of the scale) were all the animals on the islands and underwater. i found bearded scorpionfish, stingrays, lots of reef fish and a barracuda. maybe after i got from next time, i'll do a closeup on a divesite to continue a bit in organic landscapes, let's see ;-)
The Iconic main bay of the biggest of the nine islands i called Donald Duck bay, because of a Donald-Duck-face-shaped granite boulder, so i couldnt resist to get Donald himself in. I dedicated this model to a friend of mine, who is currently running a divecenter in the area and helped me out getting there - Thanks a lot again, it was an awesome time, mate!
As always, most pictures of this moc are on my own website.
Looks very nice... another pic or two would have been nice tho! I gather this is becoming quite a vacation spot? My vet went to the area last year for sailing! :)
