I keep pulling up this page subconsciously :P. I must ask though, how did you get all of those overlaying plates to stay? Also, do you have a particular store on brick link that you use? To end my second comment I'll just say that you have inspired me.
Easiest way to explain is that they have 2x2 plate with the 4th stud left open so I can attach a technic pin hole at any angle. There is a variation of this on each one, all attaching to technic parts. |

Excellent build bud! I love your use of parts and how you get the great details throughout. Always look forward to your builds. Would you consider building the Protoss.? I would say there my favorite race in Starcraft.
Keep it up bud. |

Thanks for getting back to me. Never imagined minimalism is one of the main aspects of your building. I always see so much detail packed in and I can hardly figure out how, but that'll be something I'll have to figure out for myself to find my building style. |

Even as unfamiliar with the source material as I am, I can clearly see this is a masterpiece. The jointwork is tremendous; in bio-type MOCs it's hard to achieve such a level of detail and smoothness with regular bricks rather than technic pieces. You pulled it off wonderfully. The face and head structure formed from those robot arms is mind-blowing. The subtle curves give it quite the menacing, fierce (and I assume realistic) look. All-around, this is obviously a huge achievement in LEGO design: well done! |

This is one of the coolest creations I've ever seen! Mike, please join my group, Imagination Paradise. No competition, no deadline, build to your heart's content, take your time, and have fun. This Hydralisk just took my breath away when I saw it, and I'd love to have it in Imagination Paradise. It shows just how amazing one's imagination can be. Again, please join Imagination Paradise. I love this Hydralisk! XD |

You need to tell us who you are so I can properly stalk your work.
On another subject, I'm currently studying toy design in college and plan to work for the lego design team. My concern is I sincerely feel underqualified because I feel like I lack the kind of skills you have in order to build professionally.
I've attempted to transition from bionicle and slowly into brick and greebling, but it's a constant struggle because I need to be able to juggle projects, assignments and class time (not to mention a part time job). So now, I have less time to build, and even less time to learn new ways to build.
Basically, I would very much like to know how you do it, because I wanna do it too. How did you start, and how did your MOC-ing become so refined?
I post most often to Flickr than anywhere else: http://www.flickr.com/photos/retinence/
I've applied to Lego quite a few times already and they've rejected me each time, so I can't give you any advice on that.
I have a minimalistic style when building which means I use as few pieces as possible to solve as many Lego problems as I can. This takes a while to learn and grasp. This allows for room to pack in whatever detail is desired. Working with Bionicle means you always have to deal with unruly pieces. Minimalism decreases the amount of pieces needed to work with those Bionicle parts.
I refined my style by practicing one aspect of building at a time with a MOC. And I always made sure to try and outperform myself on each new MOC.
I hope this answers your question somewhat. It would take me writing a book to fully answer it. |

Sheesh, Mike. This thing is wicked. You, sir, are an artist. I love how you mixed bulky and bony throughout. The upper body has a strong look, but the arms have that stringy appearance, making it look ever more menacing. Everything is placed perfectly. The segmented body makes it look very alien, and the head gives it a decidedly xenomorph look. Can't say enough about this. Well done! |
