Bofors 40mm Heavy AA Machinegun (Updated Photos)
About this creation

My take on the Bofors E/L70 40. I admit, i got lazy when it came to accuracy but i am quite pleased with the end result anyway.

A series of updated photos have been added near the bottom of the page.

Close-up of the crew platform. The computer to the right is for targeting. I will probably change that to a more discrete system later.

To the left are racks for ammunition. These were supposed to hold 4-piece bandoliers but i had neither parts nor patience to figure a more accurate solution for the racks or the ammunition.

A closer look at the front. The radar is inspired by one seen on a tank elsewhere on MOCpages. The two cylinders below the gun are pistons for raising the gun. The eject-port i opted to leave out.

Elevation range of the gun. The real E/L70 40 can achieve negative angle too and can thus be used to combat ground targets as well as air targets.

The weapon towed behind the 4WD from the 4433 set.

Updated Photos:

As per popular suggestion, the wheels and the targeting computer has been updated and supports have been added. I'm not entirely pleased with the wheels, but that will have to wait until i get hold of more standard City-wheels.

Below is a photo of the real Bofors E/L70 40 and a link to a video of it in use. For some reason i can't embed the video anymore.

Thanks for watching :-)

Quoting Alex Sonny Nice! by the way, videos can still be embedded through the "use old embed code" feature on youtube. Also some messing around in HTML is required, but I managed to get videos to play on my creations.
Hey thanks! I'll look into that next time i need a video :-)

Nice Bofors, I notices the wheels are a bit small in comparison, and it doesnt really have any support legs, but nice nonetheless.

I'd use other (bigger) wheels and maybe you could add the legs to prevent it from tipping over. But the gun itself is awesome. Really nice moc

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 i d need an all around trailler canon, aa, ground, cannon, machine guns, laser, you figure the best possible trailler weapon, it s not supposed to be a real weapon, you invent the concept and design, it s YOUR weapon, YOUR buisness, you re the man!!!
Hmm.. The inventing-bit sounds interesting actually :-) I might look into that as well.

Quoting TF Twitch When you do find a solution, make sure that you find a third party contractor, pay them about 20 times what they should get paid to develop the idea, then buy that idea from them for 50 times what it is really worth, take said idea and patent to the lowest bidder and pay them 100 times what you paid the first party to make a used-to-be-quality product out of fifth-rate materials.
Hehe i think Bofors in our neighbouring country would be disappointed then :-D But it does sound like a familiar way of doing things. In my country too! We had a failed drone program called 'the falcon' some years ago. It cost heaps and never flew properly in our hands. Then we sold it bargain-cheap (to the US even, i think) and they never had any problems with it :-D

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 oh, that s cool! i have no trailer cannons in the GF, i wanted to add some in the future, why don t you make a com fig? start a arms corp? if you can simplify the build, post instructions, i ll copy it for the GF, and you ll be manufacturing them, check my alta-5 #4 buisness office post, it s especially good for my close friends, like you allan!
Thanks :-) Uhm i'm not sure what you mean by com fig, but there's that Vit-character from my mobile nuke launcher i could perhaps use? I'll look into adding updates soon with some reverse engineering of this, that might give you what you need or maybe ideas for your own version :-) And i'll check out your business office soon too, thanks for the tip!

Quoting TF Twitch Sick! Very nice AA Gun. The targeting computer looks a tad confusing. Eh, it is the military, it is supposed to be. Right?
Yeah i skipped a corner there too :-D I need to figure a proper solution for that one day.
