About this creation
Hi all, I'm pretty new here at MOCpages, seems like a contest is just the way to meet the fine folks here. Anyways, here is my entry into MELO.
"Simbelmynė. Ever has it grown on the tombs of my forebearers. Now it shall cover the grave of my son. Alas, that these evil days should be mine. The young perish and the old linger. That I should live to see the last days of my house."
"No parent should have to bury their child."
I was going for the movie scene shot here of the flower closeup and tomb in the background... as you can tell, photography is not my strong suite.
This scene in the book was very moving for me, both as a father and a Soldier. While not spectacular visually, it was poignant, hope you enjoy. (Note the "artwork" on the door frame is not a custom decal, just a LEGO rubber band twined around studs.)

Great choice of subject! I love that you picked something different to build (i.e. not another Helm's Deep). As others noted, the rubber band thing is a wonderful idea. It looks to me like the sort of looping designs you see on Anglo Saxon art, so perfect for Rohan. |

Awesome build! The base is quite artsy and provides a good border for the MOC. This is a unique scene to build and you captured it perfectly. Great job and good luck in the contest! |

Welcome to the 'pages Josh! =D Wonderful work, this build is very impressive. I most say that I'm quite fond of the base; the shaping of it is great. The use of the rubber band above the tomb door is ingenious, too. I really like the fact that you choose this scene, compared to some others what are more often done. I believe your the first (at least from what I've seen) to actually build this scene. So that may get a few bonus points from the judges. ;) All in all, a job well done. Good luck! |
