A freight car (intermodal) design that was inspired by cyberfrank 2010.
About this creation

Mr. Slideshow: Good day, everyone! I am Mr. Slideshow, from the Research and Development branch over at Nacho Enterprises®. I am here with a presentation of the future. Please hold all questions and comments until the end of the presentation. Thank you.

Mr. S: I present to you "Modularity," ladies and gentlemen. THAT is the word of the future. But what is "modularity?"

Mr. S: "Modularity" is having an item fulfill multiple roles. It is a very cost effective management resource of reusing the same item and have it adapt to many roles. I hereby give you "Item 1." Here you see Item 1 fulfilling its first role.

Mr. S: However, Item 1 can be outfitted to fulfill the roles required in ideas "Number A" and "Number B" as shown here. However, it can continue with "Number C" and all the way, if so desired, to "Number ZZ".

Mr. S: So, what does that mean in regards to our Modular Freight Cars here? Which have been built in 8-wide for your convenience.

Mr. S: Here we have the swivel point for the freight cars. Stay with me, it will all make sense to you soon enough.

Mr. S: Here is that swivel mechanism broken down into its simplest components so that you may grasp how it "comes together." Haha.

Mr. S: This shows the truck assembly that is shared by two cars.

Mr. S: Shown now is the completed assembly of two cars coupled together by a single truck. This concept of two freight cars sharing a truck can go on indefinitely.

Mr. S: So let us put this all together now. The swivel point plus the truck equals a Modular Freight Car System. You can add or take away as many freight cars as you need. Sharing a truck means that the overall weight of the train is reduced, thus decreasing the load on the locomotive. This, in turn, lets the locomotive run at a higher speed and delivers the cargo at a faster rate. A faster rate of delivery means more profits. I can see that I am talking your language now.

Mr. S: Shown here is a simple base of a cargo that can be put on the freight cars.

Mr. S: Let us simulate a cargo with this "red box". You can use said "red box" to represent any kind of cargo that you need hauled.

Mr. S: Now, I know that you are asking yourselves, "But what if I have smaller red boxes that need to be hauled?" Do not panic, ladies and gentlemen. The Modular Freight Cars are designed to accommodate ALL cargo, large or small.

Mr. S: Seen here are two smaller "red boxes" that are loaded on different platforms of the freight cars. Once again, the "red boxes" represent YOUR cargo. And YOUR cargo on the Modular Freight Cars means profits for YOU.
Business Man: Mr. Slideshow, what if my cargo is not in the shape of a "red box"?
Mr. S: I am so glad that you asked, because that is the next part of my presentation. Next slide, please.

Mr. S: To reiterate, what if my cargo is not a "red box" shape? Let us take this tank, for example.

Mr. S: See, you have nothing to worry about. The Modular Freight Cars handle any and all types of cargo, both regular and irregular.

Mr. S: And look! The Modular Freight Cars are not only able to accommodate the irregular cargo such as the tank, but your "red box" cargo as well!

Mr. S: "Modularity", ladies and gentlemen. Remember, that is the word of the future! This concludes my presentation, so please enjoy our complimentary donuts and coffee at the back of the room, sent with regards from the esteemed Mr. Twitch.
*Twitch's Remarks*
So, this is set up as a sort of "sales pitch", if you would. After seeing the Cybercity Cargo Train that was built by cyberfrank 2010 and the comments about joining the train cars together, I knew that I had to come up with a solution. Immediately my old train set, the Cargo Railway came to mind. I remembered its modular design and how futuristic it looked. Since Cybercity is "the city of the future", I figured that I would help and design something for it. I know that this is not an original idea, but it is the first that came to mind. And it is simple enough that it can easily be expanded upon. But only after you buy the rights to the patent, of course. Hey! I AM running a business here, okay? Just kidding, I had to be "in character" for that. Anyways, the LDD file is included, but Mr. Slideshow is not.

So, a new and improved Modular Freight Cars MOC has been uploaded! It is aptly named "Modular Train Cars (Update)." It provides a more detailed look at the swivel truck, so hopefully it proves to be more helpful with some of the confusion and/or questions. |

Thats a great technique for making the two cars share a single truck assembly. Hang in there. LDD got me through trips to various sandy places. |

Thank you everyone for the great comments. To answer a few of your questions, coming from Twitch himself. 1) "Nacho Enterprises" is really a play on words. "Not Your Enterprises" is the original name, so here in engrish "not your" can be quickly pronounced and slurred together as "notcho". Hence "Nacho". 2) There are many departments within Nacho Enterprises, as discussed on the home page. We have Research and Development, Testing and Diagnostics, Business, and Public Relations. Our War Department and Logistics of Transportation are completely self-reliant departments and do not rely heavily on the other departments for support. They are internally supported. Mr. Slideshow came over from R&D to assist with this presentation since the normal personnel from the Logistics of Transportation were occupied with other projects. 3) An "office" center will be released to the public soon. 4) If transportation of locomotive parts is required, I would suggest the "red box" styled containers, unless something more suitable is required. 5) I will update this presentation with additional pictures of the swivel "mechanism" and how it works. |

umm excuse me Mr. slideshow, but what if I wanted to transport locomotive parts from one part of the factory to another, or transport them across the country to another facility? |

if I have to post something related to trains, and d like to show your representative on them, I d need to know what he looks like, + an office I could copy on ALTA-5, to have the option on integrating it in a story. |

all trains on ALTA-5 will be manufactured by your corp then, still, I don t see how it works, my english perhaps...? if you could demonstrate somehow.... nacho enterprise sounds good to eat, that s good for a resto franchise, [it s open] but, for trains...could you come up with a tech name? the trains are yours, and +. |

wow! that s cool, and your place is insured in the federation, I just looove this, but, it occures to me to have a flaw, we can t detach the wagons once they re attached, I really need to meet all situations, things are going to happen to these trains, wagons will get blown up, derailled, fall of bridges, they ll need to detach for repairs and such, I m no Mr rogers, lol, the trains don t just need to look good, they will see action! lol! but, your concept is good enough to retain in memory, I might make something different in an episode, as I still have 2 train motors sleeping in my drawers, and everything I need for 2 locos.... so you don t waiste your time, if you could check my passenger train wagon, the mail-cargo wagon need a storage safety system to handle gold, money, jewelry, and mail, I can do it, it s no question of that, but, I miss time, if nacho enterprises solves this, it will be remembered and credited, you ll go farr in the gf, as there are no train related corp yet....
The train car bed literally just rests on the round 1x1 smooth round plate of the trucks. There is nothing connecting the two assemblies, and therefor the car bed can be lifted off of the truck with ease.
Nacho Enterprises deals with many types of products, as our most recent projects have been advanced mobile weapon platforms and rail transportation systems. If you need it, we have. See my home page for more information. |
