Being separated from my bricks for 5 months of skiing (it's a job!) has led me to have some adventures with LDD, LDD to POV Ray Convertor and POV Ray.
About this creation

This is a fold out gattling gun for the Wasp. I've some other designs in LDD too.

The Wasp will have a missile battery hidden in its other wing.

Here we see the weapons folded out from the Wasp. The cockpit for the mini-fig is underneath the wing but my laptop couldn't render the three, large transparencies which I've used.

I started playing with rendering using models that I'd already made in LDD. This is the The Grey Reaper.

Here's the High Speed Interceptor.

My favourite view is this one, with all of the engines on display.

David Alexander Smith's Classic Space Pocket Money Contest inspired me to find some instructions online for some classic sets. The original version of this Space Scooter used what are now "illegal connections", so I had to improvise a little.

This Mobile Tracking Station is one both mine & David's favourites. I had to make the antenna on top light grey, rather than the original trans-clear, to make the render happen in a reasonable time (6 1/2 hours) on my 5 year old laptop.

LL918 was my first ever Classic Space set and my first ever min-fig. Here we see the pilot about to test fly an example which has yet to have its registration number painted on. The windows are covered with a protective film from the factory (or was it that my laptop just couldn't render the trans-yellow!)

This final photo isn't a render but the Wasp in real bricks. This is as far as I got before I left for the Alps. I hope to have it finished in late May, depending on life and the speed of Bricklink deliveries.

If you want to ask me questions about my adventures in rendering, you can find my e-mail on my MOCpages homepage.

Wicked dude! I have been trying to figure out how to make LDD look real for a while now cos it would make set background design so much quicker! I love how wel you have been able to do it. CGI belongs everywhere! The Wasp is a killer design!

Looks fantastic! The wasp looks to be one of your best builds yet, can't wait to see it finished. Glad to see you're still building even without your bricks!

Great to see what you've been up to. I've been adoring that Wasp for the last few minutes now... I don't know how you got all those functions and techniques in there and still made it come out seamless in the end! Astounding!

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Wow this rendering looks real. The Wasp looks absolutely fantastic. I really like all your creations but this looks very special. Has a hint of a valkyrie and concorde about it. Can't wait to see it complete. Hope you are enjoying yourself even though you are away from home.
I hadn't thought of the Valkyrie but yes, you're right the cranked wing tips and delta wing do have something about them.

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Awesome ship, looking forward to seeing it finished. Nice job you have too, do you teach skiing or are you a professional competitor?
Just a ski instructor I'm afraid. I'm hoping to have just Eurotest left to do to get my BASI Level 4 by the end of the winter.

Quoting David Alexander Smith The render on the Mobile Tracking Station is stunning. In general the results you've achieved makes me consider LDD as an alternative to real bricks. The Wasp by the way looks stunning. I'm really interested to see how those Gatling gun fits into the build.
I've posted a render with the weapons deployed. There's a big, white hole, as I haven't built the engines inside the ship yet.

Certainly won't lose the Wasp in a snowstorm!!! Great renderings and I love the Wasp, although it sort of gives me a headache when I stare at it for very long ;) I actually hope to see more of it in detail, clever fold outs.
