Well this is my 3rd CHRISTMAS Present for my viewers whether Christian or Jewish! My father's brother married a Jew from Madrid, Spain (called Sephardi)so growing up I was taught about Judaism and all it's customs from her! I dedicate this to the memory of my AUNT MICKEY (Miriam)! I also thought it about time we did something for the Jewish Holiday of CHANUKAH (also spelled: Hanukkah)! I was the teacher the young Jewish teacher came to to teach them how to play with the DREIDEL! It's easy each person gets the same amount of "gelt" (money) (or peanuts or M&Ms), the DREIDEL spins if the face says NUN - nothing is done no coin in the pot no taking from the pot. (Each round a coin is placed in the pot.) If it lands on Shin (looks like a "w") you put an extra coin in. If it lands on a Hay (looks like an upside down "U") you get half the pot! If it lands on gimmel youget the whole pot - lucky you! I included photographic instructions on how I built both! Menorahs have 8 candles but some Chanukah ones have 9 one to light the rest! I showed the 8 candle one. I also have the progression of the lighting of the candles from day one to day 8. The DREIDEL marks the purpose of the MENORAH: "A MIRACLE HAPPENED HERE!" the miracle was the lamps stood lit for 8 days! And yes, there are no letters on the Dreidel I am looking for stickers!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
