This is so amazing! i would not be able to do it better! However, the helmet should be much more green instead of grey. (i got the mini master replica helmet) but if you didn't have that pieces, this sure is a good solution ;)
I rate it ..... (speechless again :/ ).....

You never disappoint, Joe. Never has a character gained such popularity from so little screen time, and you have captured him perfectly. I like this one better than your first attempt simply because of the fire from the jetpack. I love the pose that you put him in for the main pic. It really shows how dangerous this character is. And I love Slave I. Don't see many ships from you. Very welcome sight. Well done, as always, good sir. Hope you and your family had a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. |

Quoting El Barto !
Came back to look again, and read Dave's comment. Did you think about using a different background? Something darker maybe? That might set off both the fig and the fire at the same time. Just a thought...
Thanks for the feedback Barto, I will factor that into the rebuild |

Two things really stand out to me about this figure. The first is the density of all of the different stud angles in the head. It's one of those things that looks so neat & simple but must have taken a load of rebuilds to get right. The other that I love are the flames from his rocket pack and how they work as a stand for the figure. The combination of different slopes and cheeses reminds me of the rock work that castle builders do but this is in all those firey colours. |
|
|
Joe,
No problem, happy to share ideas. Sometimes we get so caught up in our own thoughts that another solution doesn't appear until later. Good luck!

Man, this classic build got me inspired, along with Nick and the two "DAVE's". So, inevitably, I must produce a space crane! Yes you heard me correctly, it's time to dig out the classic space figs, and the old school hand crank. I'll keep you posted. Great work here again, and here's to another year. OF LEGO! Z |

...Just a though...

Thanks Dave. I did try 'smoke' with sloped white pieces but it looked wrong. The mini fig helmet idea is brilliant and the different texture would improve the overall look. I wish I had thought of that, I have plans for a similar moc so I will try your suggestion. Thank you again for your interest.
|
|
|
Joe,
Lovely work, as usual. I also particularly appreciate the posing. I read your comment about how the fire base turned out. Perhaps the difficulty is in the various colors and the way all those angles are so similar to what's happening in the figure. I wonder if you would consider the fire turning into smoke at the bottom and using multiple curved elements in white, greys, and black (usually accomplished with minigure helmets) to create a difference in texture and allow more contrast between figure and base. Just a thought...

Currently building a series of starwars mini ships. Hope Santa brought you some lego, and a Happy new year to you and yours. |

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Yo MC! Thanks mate :D. I should have mentioned you in the intro as it was your suggestion that got my creativity going. The extra details like the wookie hair and chains were a last minute addition but I really like them. Glad you like my slave 1 too - I built it with snot for an additional challenge. I am planning some more mini Star Wars ships as my kids are getting really into SW now. Thanks again.
I knew something was lacking. Haha. I noticed that you have commented on a few of my creations after a few times I have commented. I used to do that. I need to get back into it. Not only does it give me exposure, but it gives others a chance, thanks to the Activity Column, but it also helps me get more in tune with the community. I wish I had remembered to put my e-mail on a list to help run a Lego Club for younger fans out at my local library because lately I haven't been doing much building, or doing much with the community other than chatting with a few of my TFOL buds. But anyway, thank you and all that mooshy stuff. :) Oh, and it's great to see your kids are liking SW. I am in love with CW Season 4 because I was given it for Christmas. Darth Maul returning and all. |
