Christmas is over and it's time to prepare for Japanese New Year.
About this creation
The Christmas decorations are already stored away to prepare for Japanese New Year. This is one of the popular Japanese New Year's decorations. I believe it is called a "shimenawa" and often placed on the front door of your house similar to a Christmas wreath.
2012 was the year of the tiger. 2013 will be the year of the snake, hence the red snake at the top of the shimenawa. 2014 will be the year of the horse.
Here is the aforementioned "shimenawa" adorning my front door...

And other versions...
I don't want to leave this Lego version outside so placed it above my mini modular scale model of my house which sits in my "genkan" (Japanese equivalent of porch).
