The Beast and the Sovereign
The source of every crime, is some defect of the understanding; or some error in reasoning; or some sudden force of the passions.

Quoting A M Beautiful and terrible. A fine work of art!
The beast only offers Morton's Fork (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morton%27s_Fork).

Reminds me of the Rolling Stone's song, "Sympathy for the Devil." - "what's bugging you is the nature of my game" Good stuff, man.

Quoting David Roberts Another thought-provoking MOC. To me, the red, devilish shadow (towering like a leviathan behind the king) embodies temptation. The shadow already has the axe in his hand and the king is reaching for the dagger. I wonder what is written in the book by the king's left hand? Is it some treatise on how to run a country fairly & justly? Is the satanic shadow reaching for it too, in order to steal it, so that the king won't be guided by its advice? Does the king have a cat called "Hobbes"?
Yes a cat called Hobbes and dog called Machiavelli, which he hasn't worked out yet is really a fox.

Quoting Topsy Creatori(StoveTop nomore!) Very 'Faustian'! And so ironic that the only way he can rid himself of that red guy is to kill himself and then... he'll be his forever! Creepy stuff! :)
There was a big Faust motif here, but a lot of other things as well. Hopefully another ambiguous scene.

Quoting Gale Winthrope Perhaps he had the Devil at his back for reasons other than to see to his own death. If you'll notice carefully, (Which I am sure you did, and intended for this) the Devil is extending his vial red finger towards the rules of law which lay on the desk, and the (Rather emotionless) man is looking down at it. This suggests to me that he is little more than a mere puppet of the unruly red beast that sits behind him wielding its axe of dark reign. Beautiful work David, the shadow technique serves you yet again!
Pretty close to the idea I wanted to project. Some googling on the title and description will give more to ponder.

Quoting LEGO Family Lovely .... You managed to pull of the shadow effect really well in this MOC .... Something that we have tried and failed on miserably ..... Very creative MOC ... Love it ! :)
I worked the shadow out here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/347167. It is actually quite an easy technique to employ.

Yes I thought I'd create a Classic Castle counterpoint to my Classic Space shadow quandary.
