This is my entry-round submission for the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics (MELO). After thinking through several ideas (and throwing most of them out), I finally settled on doing the scene from the Fellowship of the Ring where the four hobbits are hiding under a tree from a Ringwraith. Then I saw this. Knowing that I could do nothing near Mr. Xenomurphy's masterpiece, I decided to move on once again. That's when I thought of doing Gollum's cave (from the Hobbit), which is what you see!
This was inspired by both the Hobbit book and the movie (which I've now seen twice!). I really liked the movie overall, and they did a fantastic job on this scene in particular. Here is Gollum fixing dinner (yum!).
I thought it was a nice touch in the movie that Sting stopped glowing once Gollum had killed the goblin.
That is a BrickForge sword, in case you were wondering.
Nasty goblinses' bones...
Thanks for viewing, and good luck to all the contestants!
Very nice, the scene is instantly recognizable! Just like you I also really like the fact that Sting stopped glowing when Gollum had killed the Goblin so I find it very nice that you included that little detail into your scene!
This is my absolutely favourite scene in the Hobbit =D. You capture it really well, the rockwork and also all the bones laying around are very accurate. While the rockwork is very good, I'm not a huge fan of the water. Otherwise, awsome MOC! Good luck ;)
Incredible job, really well done, though I believe the mushrooms were red. (But I don't think you'll lose points fer that! ;) ) Really great job, his kitchen (hahaha) is really neat and the area by Bilbo is just perfect. Good luck dude!
