The Russo-Finnish War, commonly known as the Winter War, began shortly after the outbreak of WW2 in 1939 and lasted into 1940. This scene depicts a Russian patrol near Karelia, Finland in December 1939. Unaware of the group of Finnish soldiers hiding nearby, the Russians make their way through the deepening snow.
About this creation
The reason I'm using German winter uniforms is that Germany was supplying weapons & supplies to Finland at the time. (Also because I couldn't find any Finnish decals to use!)
This squad is well-equipped, with several K98Ks and an MG34.
