The Classic Race Teams Group 2012 Roundup, featuring; Alan Mann Racing, JPS Lotus, Salzburg Porsche, Martini Porsche, Scuderia Ferrari and Gelo Racing.
About this creation
After our first full year, the MOCpages Classic Race Teams group has successfully recreated several racing outfits from the incredible, and deadly, '50-'70s era.
The following archive photos represent some of our teams at or near completion. All credit is due to the builders of the vehicles; please click the accompanying link underneath each picture for more information.

Alan Mann Racing, owned by MortalSwordsman and featuring several of MOCpages best car builders. The team ran a second-hand Fiat Bartoletti Twin Axel transporter, crammed full of red and yellow Ford racing cars.

An archive photograph of the Gelo Racing transporter behind one of their Ferrari 512 race cars, courtesy of Thomas Graafland.

Captured in their heyday, the above photograph shows Team Lotus when they were at the peak of F1 racing, before their gradual decline and ultimate withdrawal from the sport.
Porsche were as heavily involved in racing during the '50s, '60s and '70s as they are today. The rare archive photo below shot by DeTomaso Pantera gives a glimpse into the back of their huge Mercedes Renntransporter. The Salzburg Porsche team includes such builders as Senator Chinchilla and Dohoon Kim.

Ecurie Ecosse raced a variety of sports and GT cars against the manufacturers from Britain and Italy, with great success. They also used one of the most iconic racing transporters of all time, the incredible Commer 3-cylinder built in 1959. A rare archive photo from Nick Barrett shows their truck unloading one of the team's famous Jaguar D-Type racing cars.

Porsche make up a large proportion of the group, and Martini International were one of the most famous teams running their cars. Malte Dorowski submitted this photo taken in the paddock during the 1970s, showing one of the team's VW parts vans in attendance to a 1970s Porsche 935/78.

Finally Jon Treasure has recovered this photograph showing Scuderia Ferrari in the 1960s, with their Fiat Bartoletti truck and two race cars engineered by Thomas Graafland.
Acknowledgments:
- All the contributers to the Classic Race Teams group. There are many more teams and many many more vehicles than those featured on this page. If you'd like to see more of the team's work you can join us here.
- Special thanks to Jon Treasure for his photo-shopping skills in recreating Scuderia Ferrari in the main and final images. If you'd like to see his own MOCs, or what photo editing he can do for you, please click his name above.
- Finally, a huge thank you to Malte Dorowski, for taking a simple half-baked idea and turning it into one the most successful groups of 2012.
If you would like to join us and recreate a classic racing team in 2013, please check out the instructions and current teams under construction at the Classic Race Teams group homepage.

In my opinion this is one of the coolest groups on MOCpages (if not THE one)! So many great racing cars with even greater transporters - Wow! Great job, keep on bricking and collecting those awesome models! :-)) P.S.: I can say that I have a little 4-wide surprise waiting to be posted... (so much to do and so little time) ;-)) |

Hello Mr. Ape Fight,
Do you know what happened to Chris Melby? He seems to be gone. I hope he is okay.
He's a Flickr-er now. Although a few of us are on both Flickr and MOCpages he's deleted his MOCpages account. I'm afraid I don't know why he decided he needed to close it down.

Hello Mr. Ape Fight,
Do you know what happened to Chris Melby? He seems to be gone. I hope he is okay. I first noticed this when I saw a comment of his here on the MOC http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/352844
I hope you don't mind me telling you this. |

Awesome cars! Wow! Sorry to see you leave i Brick, but thank you for your parting comment! You shouldn't be bothered with invitations to that group....
Thanks Fire Ninja : ) As mentioned, I only left because the group was so popular my whole news feed was dominated by it! Hopefully the MOCpages admins can look into turning off that feature, then I'll be back!

Awesome cars! Wow! Sorry to see you leave i Brick, but thank you for your parting comment! You shouldn't be bothered with invitations to that group. I notified the other admins to make sure they don't invite you. If you get another invitation to i Brick, just know that it was purely accidental (we invite people often) and unintentional. If you do receive another invitation, just click "don't join" or whatever it says. Thanks for voicing your thoughts! |

Best group by far. I only wish more people had made race teams back in the day so we'd have more to build! =P How do you come up with all this stuff, Ape? First the Rod Club, V8, now this? You're on a roll here!
Thanks Senator : ) It's only possible with a group of great builders like you. You wait 'til you see the next plan though....

Very cool! A nice set of teams. Together you would almost have a complete start line-up for an F1 race scene :-)
Thanks Allan; that's the plan actually!
Everyone else; thanks so much. This isn't really a MOC but I thought the group deserved a round up after an epic year!

What a great year it has been for CRT, let us hope that the following years continue with superb-quality racecars! Thanks for creating this wonderful group Ape, it really has brought out the best of me and many others :) Though this isn't a MOC, the pure-awesomeness of this group deserves 5 stars. |

Yes, indeed the best group. I really want to get my claimed Abarth racecar done, but I still am building something for Dan The Man's french car contest... Let's see what I can get done. |

Surely the best group on MOCpages, by a long way. The quality of the builds is always outstanding, and I like the way it seems to encourage all builders to raise their game. Looking forward to displaying some of these fine vehicles in Swindon! And mine... see you early next year :-) |
