Designing our Kingdom
We haven't posted anything in a while due to the fact that we haven't had anything new to share until now. We have spent a great deal of time coming up with designs for our entire kingdom using LDD. Here is what we have so far.
About this creation

Our entire layout is a modular design with each section being built on a 32x32 baseplate. This is the design we came up with for our surrounding wall. It is a compromise between appearance, function, and affordability. We have already started construction on the wall and have about half of the entire surrounding wall completed in our dining room. Just waiting on more bricks at the moment.

Affordability had us go with normal corners instead of large turrets.

This is beautiful! Two thumbs up for the ambition factor - it's gloriously huge - and a big round of applause for your return! Make sure you take a lot of pics of the building process to later compile a MOC of it, how about it? Can't wait to see it in real bricks, it's incredible!

Being able to afford it is a huge issue for a lot of us. I could not (cannot) buy it all at once. As you can see from our other MOCS, we already have a large modified castle and several building to place inside our surrounding walls. It took us several months to acquire all of those. This process of building the surrounding wall will take a while. Each wall section cost us around $25, with each corner being around $50. Just the plain wall sections and the corners are costing us around a total of $600. We have probably already spent around $500 just on our castle and surrounding buildings. I haven't even begun to factor what the front gate is going to cost us. I am guessing it will probably be another couple of hundred dollars or so. Wow... This is becoming depressing. I shouldn't have studied the cost this closely.
Quoting Caleb Browne Man I love your kingdom I wish I could afford it, but I'll keep on dreaming

Really good, especially the arrangement of steps up to each section, particularly in the corners where the steps meet....very smart, such a large open space the outer wall surrounds, plenty of space for exciting lego creations such as markets and village buildings.....and soldiers !>.....looks excellent as a computer made image, be great in real bricks !!>.....well done

As soon as we complete it with the real bricks, I'll post the pics. As of now, we have quite a few buildings to fill all of the open space, the mill village raid, the medieval market village, and several small kiosks that we have created. We are also in the process of building a church and the two barracks building that you see adjoining the perimeter walls. Our biggest holdup right now is a shortage of the 2x6 dark bluish grey bricks. Waiting on suppliers in bricklink ro refill. Even the lego.com website only has a little over 400 available. We need about 800 more right now.
