MOCC Contest Round Two: The Rogues` Last Stand
Hi all! So, I have made it to round two in this contest, and I have chosen the category "medieval". I have poured huge amounts of time into this build, and I hope the judges like it. So, let's get right to it!
About this creation
The setting:

A band of rogue knights have been wandering for days, struggling just to stay alive. Their very steps are dogged by a group of Lion Knights, meaning they can never stay in one place for long. Eventually, they find an abandoned fortress, and decide to stay there, but then, disaster strikes: the Lion Knights catch up to them, ready for battle. The rogues are forced to use the fort's old defenses to fend of the oncoming assault. Only time will tell who will win in the rogues' last stand....

Onto the pics!

Another view.

A shot of the landscaping. This has been built in two layers. I must give credit to Matthew Oh for the style of the bottom layer. Sorry Matt, got to get ideas from somewhere ;).

The river. For all of you gaping at the medium blue, let's just say thank goodness for the PAB wall at the LEGO Store.

The flaming catapult projectile.

The tree. Somebody had BETTER comment on this thing, I put a good 45 min into at least.

The interior. Did you think this would even have an interior? I hope you did ;).

The scene de-figged.

The tree by itself.

The rogue soldiers.

The Lion Knights.

The commander of the rogues and the captain of the guard.

Last but not least, the path leading to the abandoned fortress. Just to show that I didn't just stand the figs on a bare baseplate.

4th wall:

My first one of these! So, one of the major things about this build is the figs: no two share the same headpiece! This is also my first try at landscaping, so I hope everybody likes it. I spent a lot of time on the tree, and I think it is good for a first try as well. Also, before I forget, the link to the competition. Bye!

Really nice work here, Garret. That tree design is outstanding! The foliage looks realistic and natural. I didn't fully appreciate the forttress until I saw it de-figged. Excellent scene, good luck in the contest! =)

Nice landscaping and stage-setting. I like the fig placements; they've gone a long way to tell the story even as Stills. Cheers =)

Quoting Subix V. Landscape is nice. Tree is fine in shape, what bothers me is different leafs. In nature only one kind of leafs grow on one tree. But hey, Lego is for imagination! Walls looks half demolished.
Thanks! The tree's lower leaves are meant to be like a whole lt of the upper one growing closer together.

Quoting Justin M This is wonderful! Excellent job with the landscaping portion of the build, very impressive. Gotta love that tree! ;) I must say I'm not the biggest fan of the castle though, it just seems a tiny bit to random. Still, an incredible build, congratulations on the great scores from the judges! Nice one. :D
Thanks a lot! The landscaping took a lot of work, so I'm glad you like that. I have to say I disagree on the castle being random, as I wanted a defendable place, something that would be suitable for a last stand. My first thought was a large rock wall, but I didn't have enough parts for that, so, yeah. Plus, I remembered I had that scrapped second Uruk-hai army set, and I wanted to put those profile bricks to a good use. The only thing that I really wasn't pleased with was the fact that there was foliage surrounding the cobblestone path, it just didn't look right. I originally wanted a sparsely foliaged clearing, but I had a shortage of plant parts, so the cobblestone path is really a space filler.
