About this creation
Well, thank goodness for sleep deprivation, for had it not been, I would never have completed this thing.

Okay. So, in keeping with my, “I can do better than that,” theme, I have built a Ground Assault Vehicle in answer to my HeavyHand that I posted on February 16 of this year. I wanted this one to be bigger, (no mystery there), with a higher level of detail. I wanted to use a color that I hadn’t used yet in any abundance, so I pulled out my yellow parts. The next objective was… well let me explain.

Many times when I’m building, I stop building a section of my MOC before I even start, thinking that it won’t work, or that I won’t be able to pull it off. It happens so much that I have come to think of it as, “stifling my creativity.” For this build, I decided that I would not do that. If I had an idea, I would pursue it until it was finished and then decide whether or not to keep it for the MOC. The gun on top is an example of this. I would have in the past, stopped myself from using containers as a gun barrel, but in this case, I kept the idea, because I thought it worked well. The covered wheels are another example. I know you can't see them, but there are ten wheels tucked inside those armored wells. This is half of the reason that this build has taken me so long.

Finally, the Munch has been bugging me ever since I took apart my Millennium Falcon set that she wanted me to build something that she could play with, so my ultimate goal was playability. I achieved in building a MOC that has the highest level of playability of any of my MOCs.

But, hey…Let’s stop gabbing and check it out. May I present, The Nemesis Ground Assault Vehicle.

First, some exterior shots.

One of my favorite parts of this build is the large cannon on the top. I can officially call this a table scrap gun, because I used pretty much whatever I could find in my collection of dark bley.

These next few shots show some work that I did for a different door technique. It is held on by two yellow technic pieces that you can see in the next shot, and there is a rod and clip under the floor plates that hold the door in place when it's shut.

A preview of the interior.

Pushing here on the bottom of the door clicks the rod into the hinge.

I repeated that technique here.

Yes, that is a gatling gun. Don't worry, you'll get a better look at it soon.

Click;)

Another hinge and clip holds the hood on.

A look at the engine. I wanted it to look futuristic but still have a modern feel.

Okay, let's check out the interior.

Cockpit.

One gunner station.

I think of that as the power source on the wall there. A tech is checking some of the gauges to make sure the power is being distributed correctly throughout the vehicle.

The necessary gunrack. One for each member of the crew. You can also see a little more of the gatling gun there.

The grunts. You can see the three to the right are much more social. They are war hardened veterans. The one on the left is the newbie. He is a little more quiet as he's having periodic dry heaves at the prospect of war.

Some looks at the interior without the peeps.

The Nemesis with its roofplates.

The next shots give you the details on the gatling gun. I am especially proud of how this turned out. I'm also proud of the sliding mechanism that moves it in and out of the back of the vehicle, but I figured to get the best look at it, I would pull it out.

Group shot. The grunts are in blue; gunners in black; operators in white.

I hope you like it. If you feel compelled, rate it and let me know what you think.

great futuristic tank! urban warfare I presume? you re right to be proud about the turret, it s functionally stylish, the round endings on sides are super cool, coolant, or ammo casings, it s inspiring, the whole thing is very polished and reffined, even the interiors have full of goodies, it s kind of a candy store, lol, well done!

Now THIS is how you build a hovertank! Seriously, I love the build and how it looks but there are only two things that I can complain about and those things are that some of the studs need to be covered on the vehicle and that I would have made two smaller turrets in front of your hovertank where you put your single turret and your window and I would have moved your window closer to the main turret but that is just me. With that being said, your hovertank (and this is a genre that does not have much love on MOC Pages, The Brothers Brick, Flickr, or any other place for that matter, which is a shame) has an excellent color scheme, it looks like something that could be realistically made, and it has a copious and an excellent amount of greebling (detailing). This should be considered as a candidate for MOTD. Dude, LEGO should definitely hire you as a set designer. U R AW-SOME!!!!!

That looks so futuristic. Great job. I specialy like the playability, looks like a kid can have all sorts of fun with it. My favortite åart of it, is the heavy armed look it has. Loads of cannons. And ofcourse the Giant Gatling in the back. Epic job

The overall texture is amazing!!! I was amused to how big this is.Though my favorite part of the vehicle is truly the packed interior!!!! I love how you thought of putting a gunner station next to the cockpit, Classic!!!! Clever opening door technique, hopefully I might get to try it out some day.Anyways, before I get off-topic let me just say that that's one sexy Gattling gun at the back!!! Amazing work as always!!!

aww thats sad to hear it was a great build but needles to say i studdied that gatling gun very hard and made a barrel of one very similer that i am using in a drop ship that im creating and when i post it i will give full cred for the idea and design it will also make me happy if you would join my group (elusian empire) as we could use a great buldier like you and your futeristic vielces would be a warm welcome too our army :)

Quoting Heroicaforge X Perfect! Love the shape. Love the angles. Love the gun. Etc!! The fact that this is to scale for minifigs is the best part. I would definately grab one of these off a store shelf. Any chance you submit designs to Lego Cuusoo?
I've never submitted anything to Cuusoo. It's something I've considered, just never actually jumped in. But we just got a Cuusoo project in at work and the prospect of seeing one of my designs as an official LEGO set is becoming appealing to me again. Thanks for the comment.

Quoting kaeleb appleyard i have to say im a fan of your work and i love your two guns i would like to use them for a large ship im attamting to make i will give full cred if i use then so i was wonderin if its not a hassle could you post instructions :)
Thanks for the comment, Kaeleb. Glad you like my work. I don't build for the likes, but I would be lying if I said that I wasn't motivated by the people of this site...and the likes are nice too. As for instructions, I can't post instructions because I've already dismantled this MOC to move on to trying to jam a Viper in this month. All I can say is look through your collection and think of what pieces can be used as a gun barrel, then don't give up until you've got it.

Quoting Jon B The more I look at this, the better it gets. Forgot to mention, the last photo is such a perfect way to round off a great MOC. Glad you're aiming to do a SHIP, after seeing Orion, I have high expectations :) (No pressure hehe)
Thanks for the enthusiasm, Jon. I must admit, your works have been probably the most prominent inspiration for me since I joined this site. You, sir, are the master greebler. And I'm not sure what you're talking about with the pressure. It takes me two months to build anything...what do I know about pressure;)

Quoting Mastermind º Simply incredible... Wow... I love the chunky, yet smooth and sleek look you gave this. And the wheels looks amazing. Although I can't see them, that extra armor around the wheels gives it a tanky feel to it... if you get what I mean. And the cannon... oh my the cannon. Ya know? I have a really strange feeling that I wouldn't like to stand in front of it? I don't know why..... (cough cough) *sarcasm*. And the interior design is spectacular. You not only got 8 minifigs to fit inside comfortably, you also fit a gatling and a gun rack. Once again, absolutely amazing buil Mr. Tim. I would rate this build 10/5 but unfortunately this rating system only goes to up to 5 so.. oh well.
Thanks a lot Mastermind. I always appreciate your comments. I built the gatling gun to sit in the front where the round turret sits, but I couldn't get it to swivel in such a small area, so I threw a seat on it and voila. Also, thanks for the comment on the gun. It's my favorite of my guns to this point.

It’s taken me a while to comment on this MOC because there’s so much to it. Firstly there’s the technique that you’ve invented for the doors. Like all good engineering solutions, it’s simple but brilliant and very effective. I want to build a MOC using it so that I can open and then close the door with a satisfying “Click!” I like how the model is a fairly uniform grey but that you’ve broken it up with the yellow stripes, both inside and out. The smooth, grey form of the vehicle, combined with the narrow windows, give it a heavy, well armoured look. As the big gun is the only large bit of dark grey, it really stands out in the overall design and doesn’t merge into the rest of the vehicle. The odd bits of red, black & blue greebling, really catch the eye and therefore must have an important function! I like how the roof lifts off in different chunks, so that you can play with different sections. The engine under the lift-off bonnet shows great attention detail:) There’s some great greebles on the walls of the interior, which contrasts well with the smooth exterior. I also like how you’ve used jumper plates to make a textured, non-slip feel to the floor inside the side door. The steps and handrail, up into the cockpit are a nice detail too. The Gatling gun would be nasty surprise when the rear door drops down! Brilliant building!

Quoting Romany Woodhouse Wow Tim, what a beast! The colour scheme is great - very unusual - but the three things that really stand out for me are the brilliant interior, awesome weaponry and that great assymetrical front end. I really look forward to seeing what you come up with next... Cheers, Rom.
Thanks for the encouraging comment, Romany. Also, thanks for noticing the assymetry. That was a real challenge in this build. I wouldn't even build with LEGO if I didn't find a challenge in it, so it is nice when someone is able to see that aspect.

If it wouldn't be too much of a hassle, could you post some shots of the workings on those doors and maybe show if you did anything special with the wheel modules? Thanks.
Not too much trouble at all. Got it posted. There is nothing special with the wheels. They're held on by technic pins. The wheel wells are just bricks with a couple bricks with studs on the side to hold on the embellishments on the side.

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Tim, your creations never cease to amaze and this is no exception. The colouration imediately jumps out at me, the use of yellow is phenomenal. I'm always impressed by people who can pull those gutsy highlights off, I've no skill whatsoever in that regard. Love the texturing and overall design as well, it's visually compelling while not jarring. The subtle asymmetry is fantastic as well, the cockpit and gun section is inspiring. However, my favourite part of your creation is how it harkens back to the classic MOCpages feel. This is the kind of build that would take center stage a few years ago, the style back then was very much geared towards this type of creation. Really brings back nostalgic memories of Ludgonious and Shannon Young's old vehicles. This would fit right in with them, and even show them up in my opinion. The interior is another of those memory inducing aspects, and the detail you gave it is fabulous. I find that on the whole builders are slipping towards only caring about the appearance in one photo, rather than making something which is well done all around and fun to play with. Great to see an exception, especially one so superb. Top-notch work!
Wow! Thanks for the super long comment, Luke! I always look forward to what you have to say. I'm glad you like the colors. I spent a lot of time trying to get them right. I find it sometimes daunting to include other colors besides just taking the easier route of just using the bleys. If this is the kind of builds that normally had the attention in the past, then I wish I had been active back then, seeing as how these are the types of builds I really enjoy doing. I don't do much with castles or vigs which seem to get the attention on this site, bit I'll keep doing what I'm doing and maybe the focus will shift again. And don't sell yourself short. I love your MOCs and I think your color usage is right on. Thanks again.

Quoting Eric Landreneau This is really wonderful. You hit all your goals, and pulled it off beautifully. There's not a wasted brick, and the details are astounding. I'm digging the overall look of it; it's very art deco, with the low pofile, long lines, and boxy curves. Kinda like if the animators of the original Batman cartoon had drawn a far-future ground assault vehicle. Gorgeous!
Thanks, Eric! Glad you like it. I put a lot of attention into the detail on this one. It's funny you mentioned the low profile. I had a thought about how low the vehicle sits to the ground. It would be no good in rough terrain because it would scrape the bottom up. So, if war breaks out on a football field, watch out;)

Quoting David Alexander Smith Fantastic, that's my first statement. The introduction of the yellow into your colour range excites me and I hope is a foreshadow of ever more daring colourful MOCs. As soon a I saw this I was dying to see the interior - great build up in the pictures, with little tasty teasers in the hatch operations reveal. The cannon at the rear made me chuckle. And then I wasn't let down by the interior al all; lovely panels and seating arrangements. Neat mini fig characters as well. One of your best planned and executed MOCs so far.
Thank you, good sir. I wasn't planning on including so many pics, but I wanted to make sure that I covered everything on this build. If this added some suspense the post, I won't apologize about that;) I had to get a little creative about how I used the yellow, but the truth is that about 90% of my collection is the bleys, so I'm going to have to keep collecting to build up some more colors. Darn. That being said, I would definitely like to include some more colorful MOCs sometime in the future. Glad you like it, David, and thanks again.

Quoting Mister Lego ~ Great build! The deatails throughout it are amazing! Very fond of that sliding gatling gun! I might attempt to build something kinda like this ;) Very nice!!
Thanks, Mister! I do love details. I had to gut the floor to create the sunken area for the gun which made me nervous for a while as it really compromised the stability of the floor, but I'm super happy with how it turned out. And I would love to see your take on it.

Quoting Justin Knelsen Great ship! Very impressive interior detailing; the exterior color scheme is superb as well. I especially loved all those massive guns. :)
I appreciate the comment, Justin. I don't think I've had more fun since I picked LEGO back up than when I built the different guns, so I'm glad you like them too. However, it's not a ship. It's a little misleading since I covered the wheels, so it's an easy mistake to make, but this really is a land vehicle.

Quoting Daniel Mayhew Excellent inside and out. Great detail as always. Makes me want to play with it. Love the door hinge idea, I'd like to see an exploded view of how you did that.
Thanks, Daniel. I am very proud of the door technique. I often wish some of the talented builders we get to see on this site would post some techniques. I suppose I should post some of mine if I want them too, huh.

Quoting Jon B Sorry I could only rate this a 5, it deserves more! Amazing build - the vehicle design is so chunky and aggressive, wouldn't like to run into this on the battlefield... The attention to detail and playability puts this on a high plain as far as I'm concerned, it's got the lot. Magnificent! PS - those gun designs are top notch, planning on attempting a SHIP sometime? I'd love to see that ;)
Thanks, Jon. Chunky is what I do. No matter what my objective is, the end result is chunky. It just so happens that in this design, it was the objective;) To answer your question; yes, a SHIP is in my future. When in the future? Who knows? I would like to beef up the collection a little before I go after that. The Orion was a little small to be considered a SHIP and I nearly drained my collection to build it.
