Jedi Council member Quino Loskin smiled as the last Jedi entered the small meeting room.
Quino Loskin: "Res, I'm glad you could make it."
Res Marc: "Of course Master Loskin! I wouldn't miss this for the world!"
Quino smiled as Res hurried to his place, he then cleared his throat and started to speak.
Quino Loskin: "Welcome, all of you. As you know, over the past week we have made incredible advances on the Sith's positions, culminating in the taking of the Temple grounds and entrance hall yesterday."
Rachel Soru: "Of course this ground wont come without a price. Master Yakerno has already experienced heavy opposition from Sith forces at his location and we are expecting a similar assault within the next day."
Quino Loskin: "Rachel and I are intending to do a scout of the area whilst we leave you all here to set up our defences. Master Gawdropp will be in charge until the arrival of Master Morton. If there are no questions? Good, we shall see you later."
The Jedi began to file out of the room. As Jedi Knight Zadok Chain passed Quino he waved happily.
Zadok Chain: "Good hunting, Master!"
Siger Wover: "You have no chance Jerek'ai!"
The Kaleesh Jedi chuckled as he waved goodbye to Quino.
Jerek'ai: "Fancy placing a bet on that Master Wover?"
Quino Loskin: "Everyone's in good spirits. Everyone except you that is."
Rachel Soru: "I know. Master, I think that the dark presense we sense is Vulcan."
Quino Loskin: "The Ratattaki?"
Rachel nodded worriedly but Quino merely waved his hand in indifference.
Quino Loskin: "Don't worry Rachel. He isn't even Sith! If we meet him, we'll be able to handle him!"
Rachel couldn't help but think back to her last encounters with the Sith and shake her head. If her father could not defeat Vulcan, then how would they?
The main level of the Sith Temple, the gates that bar the Jedi's entrance to the rest of the Temple.
Vulcan: "This is no what I signed up for!"
Darth Vatrix: "You have job Vulcan. You wil do it."
Vulcan strode over to Vatrrix and jabbed him in the chest.
Vulcan: "I don't take orders from you Vatrix! I am leaving, this is too much for me!"
Vatrix drew his lightsaber and used the Force to push Vulcan to the floor.
Darth Vatrix: "You will remember that you are not Sith. You will take orders from me, and you will remain here. If you do not then I will personally see to it that your guts are spilled on the ground before you."
Vulcan stood, his eyes full of hate.
Vulcan: "I will stay. But I will kill you one day Vatrix!"
Darth Vatrix: "Not if I get there first, worm."
Vatrix turned around to issue his orders.
Darth Vatrix: "Darth Mallace, take your Apprentice and secure the lower corridors."
The Twi'lek Sith bowed and pulled her Apprentice along behind her.
Darth Mallace: "Come Gurr, unless you want to end up like Vulcan."
Taren Gurr: "I am strong Master, I am Sith! Not like that wretch."
Darth Vatrix: "Dark Esker, see to it that our forces are ready for the upcoming attack."
Darth Esker: "As you say, Vatrix."
Vatrix walked through the gate and glanced back at the sniveling Vulcan.
Darth Vatrix: "You had best be here when I return, Vulcan!"
Roughly an hour later, Jedi Master Quino Loskin and Jedi Kinght Rachel Soru stepped into the room.
Rachel Soru: "There, we found the gates to the rest of the Temple! Now Master, please. I really do think we have come far enough."
Quino Loskin: "You really are on edge Rachel. Calm yourself, we are..."
Rachel Soru: "Master?"
Quino Loskin: "Sorry Rachel, I suddenly don't..."
Rachel grabbed Master Loskin as he suddenly vomitted onto the flooor beneath them.
Rachel Soru: "Master!"
Vulcan: "Haha! Jedi! Perhaps I was right to stay here after all."
Rachel Soru: "Vulcan!"
Vulcan: "SIlence girl! Do you feel it Loskin? The plague crawling within you? I will kill you and at last I will have the respect I deserve!"
Vulcan extended his hand and the air became thick with a green gas. Rachel began to cough violently, but Quino remained strong.
Quino Loskin: "Quiet your mind Rachel. We do not need to be affected, the Force will breath for us."
Rachel closed her eyes and immediately felt the murky gas receeding from her lungs, she took in a big gulp of fresh air.
Quino Loskin: "Now, attack!"
The Jedi ran forwards, surprising Vulcan with the strength of their charge.
They clashed blades several times and gradually, Vulcan began to retreat.
Quino backflipped away from the fight and prepared a final assault on the Dark Jedi.
Quino began to run when suddenly he felt his left arm go numb, a tingling sensation in his legs and his vision begin to go blurry.
Rachel ran over as Quino collapsed to the floor.
Rachel Soru: "Master! Are you injured?"
Quino Loskin: "No... Illness..."
Quino threw up a second time, his vomit flecked with hot patches of red blood.
Vulcan: "You cannot fight it Jedi. The plague is claiming you. You will be dead within moments."
Rachel Soru: "Liar!"
Vulcan threw Rachel aside with a quick force push.
Vulcan: "Feel the disease eating your muscles, devouring your bones, draining your organs. Death is iminant."
Quino tried to speak but no voice came out, with a quick flick of his wrist Vulcan knocked the Jedi's blade aside.
Vulcan: "You have the plague Jedi. You will die, but first comes pain."
Quino collapsed to the floor, his whole body twitching as he threw up yet more blood.
The Jedi Master eventually rolled onto his back and became very still. Vulcan began to laugh.
But suddenly, Rachel was on him and Vulcan was forced to retreat.
Rachel Soru: "Monster! You will not harm him again!"
Vulcan: "You cannot stop it. Within moments, the plague will be on you as well. Then you will die to."
Vulcan pushed Rachel away and she fell back, slipping and tripping in a pool of Quino's vomit. Rachel lay on the floor, staring up at the dim light above her.
Vulcan: "It is over child. Your life is nothing."
Rachel Soru: "No, it is your life that is nothing!"
Reaching out with the Force, Rachel threw one of Quino's lightsabers at the tightly coiled chains that surrounded the room, the blade easily slicing through the metal links.
Vulcan managed a sharp gasp before the chain slashed through the air and shredded the flesh and bone of his white neck.
Rachel got slowly to her feet, ignoring the blood the was pumping rapidly out of Vulcan's headless body.
She crossed to Master Loskin and bent down, sliding his eyes shut.
Rachel Soru: "Farewell, Master Loskin. May wherever you are be a better place than here. May the Force be with you."
