New for model year 1958, the SputnikStar is the cosmo-car for the proletariat. Since peasants should be working on earth, the SputnikStar will be driven on their behalf by senior party members.

About this creation

The cockpit is fairly basic.

The landing gear are brought into position by flattening the lower fins and positioning the struts.

For this model, I was going for a combination of US jet-age style and an overall shape influenced by sputnik I.

A brilliant looking sci-fi design. I love the colour combination and the six fin/tail things. An excellent retro-style design. I like how things fold up to land and the ship has a working landing gear, with wheels which seem to be a rarity on Lego spacecraft. Great work.
