A specially designed upgrade to the GM Ground Type mobile suit.
About this creation
In response to performance complaints about the GM Ground Type, the General Dynamics engineers went back to the drawing board to come up with a suitable replacement. To be able to address the complaints without having to design a new frame, the decision was made to strip down an RGM-79 (G) GM Ground Type and start from scratch.
The resulting project was the Powered GM. After boosting the reactor power output considerably, the engineers were able to add a bigger boosted mobility system and higher armor capacity. After assessing field performance of other similar mobile suits, they focused the additional armor around the cockpit/reactor zones and the knees of the GM.
After all the upgrades, the Powered GM managed to nearly double the performance of most current-gen mobile suit platforms. Able to field any current weapon system, it is most commonly deployed with a 20mm machine gun, beam saber, and combat shield.
