Well, the reason they're so out of focus is because the kissing figures (who are in focus) are like six inches away from those two figures. If I pulled them back any more they would be too blurred, and there was no way I could get close enough without blurring the two kissers.

I've always been a fan of perspective MOCs. One thing you might try is to pull the people looking at the picture back a bit. I get they're supposed to be out of focus, but I'm not sure if they're out of focus too much or too little...
