If you use that you will loose a lot of power and space. I did try to build something like that but it did not prove.

@Thoy Hm I i guess that is true. You could put 4 Xl motors in the tank, and have 2 motor power for each track all the time. It is a cool design.

Nicely done! @ George Staples, while it may seem more efficient this system allows you to use both motors to drive both tracks at the same time, so if one track comes across a slight incline, having the second motor connected will actually double the available power. Its genius! @ Sebeus, I think they generally have one motor with two clutches driving each separate track. :)

A very interesting system. It works, but wouldn't it be just as easy and more efficient to make 1 motor drive each track?

Very interesting, is that how a real tracked vehicle is powered ? (main motor + secondary motor for the steering)
