Type 102 "Dragon" Main Battle Tank
With the rise of ever improving military technology developed by their Dawn Forge enemy, in particular the new TITAN Class MBT, the Eurasian Alliance recognized a need to improve their own armored forces. European scientists expanding on the Chinese Type 100 series MBT have developed the last word in tracked armored weapons systems. The Type 102 "Dragon" MBT features composit armor, a 140mm smooth bore, thermal sleeved main gun, and 8 missile launchers capable of firing anti-armor or anti-aircraft missiles. The anti-aircraft capability eliminates the need for additional AA systems to support an armor battalion. Ordinarily within a tank platoon, half of the tanks carry anti-aircraft missiles and half carry anti-armor missiles. It is also possible for one tank to carry each type of missile in opposite banks, however this is not standard practice.
About this creation

A Rolls Royce V12 engine produces 1450hp and gives the Dragon a top speed of 60 mph on paved surfaces

An aquisition and tracking radar is used to target enemy aircraft

Maximum elevation of the main gun is approx 60 degrees and can be used in an in-direct fire capacity if needed

Due to it's auto loading system, the Dragon only requires a 3 man crew. Only the Commander gets a hatch as space on the turret top is limited.

A group of Eurasian soldiers from the British 103rd Infantry poses in front of a Dragon

My goal with this build was to make another near future MBT, but not make it look like the TITAN at all. This was also my first attempt at camouflage. I think I need more 1x1 tiles for a better texture.

Thanks to NightmareSquid for the radar idea (told you I was gonna steal it!) ;-)

I think I got the idea for the missiles from something on Matt Hacker's Flickr page

The Mk.II is now posted and I must say it improves on this version in almost every way!

Quoting Matthew McCall Great job on this tank, the amount of detail is great, and the build itself is of high quality. I would like to point out that anti-air missiles would be a better choice to carry than anti-armor missiles since it already has a 140mm cannon for that role.
Thanks! The A2 version is already finished, but I haven't taken pictures yet.

The Type 102-A2 will debut in an upcoming diorama. It will feature improved camo, reactive armor side skirts, a revised main gun, and a bunch of other minor tweaks. Just waiting for my Bricklink order to arrive!

Now that is something that I just can't deny. Brickarms does offer some schweeet hardware. Lego just can't compete with MP40s AKs and shot guns! I’m a purest, but the fact is that the Brickarms products are good quality.

Quoting Nightmaresquid º Cool tank, good techniques. I like the camo but Ive never really seen a perfect camo tequnique on a creation that uses more than two colors, maybe if you got rid of the green it would blend smoother. I would also try and smooth out the patchs by making them bigger, and try not to make small patches. The tank itself is fantastic, It would look great in all bley, but then again what wouldnt, I love the shape of the turret, and the suspention. 5*
Hey, you didn't mention the radar! I gave you credit of course! This tank was originally just tan and dark bley, but I didn't have enough tiles! I think I could do a good digital camo effect if I used only 1x1 tiles. Then again, maybe I will make an all bley version! I feel another Bricklink order coming on!

Quoting Michael Rutherford Nice build! The wedge shape on the front of the turret is simple and functional. I like the periscope and the addition of the AA missiles. It's a very formidable mix of weapons. Good attempt on the cammo. The whole MOC is well photographed and presented. The brick arms do not help the model though. Your Lego skills are more than good already, and the brick arms only distract from your already formidable building skills. Attack!
Thanks Michael! I use Brickarms because I remember being a kid and wishing my minifigs had cool guns. Now they do!

I like how you've integrated the camouflage into the build and the way that you've built the missile launchers on the side. My favourite detail is the commander's periscope.

Quoting Matthew Sylvan There isn't any problem with the camouflage, it's awesome just like the whole vehicle. However, 450hp isn't really much for an MBT unless its really lightweight. It should have atleast twice as much hp. Also, a gun this size uses a bore evacuator. It doesn't let the gases from the gun inside the turret. Other than these, it's a super cool creation. I might try to make a camouflage on my tank too.
Thanks! It was supposed to be 1450hp (almost as much as an M-1). I'll correct that! I also need more technic tubes to make a proper gun, but perhaps the fume extractor is integrated in a way which makes it undetectable from the outside. ;-)
