I was really nervous about this entry. Time was not on my side the last ten days, and it doesn't help that I am posting this on spotty internet on a hunting trip. Rinse, I know you said that you also had this problem too. Although I haven't seen your entry, you may still have a chance against this mediocre build.
About this creation
Category:80s sitcoms: Family ties, ALF, Growing pains, which is your favorite sitcom from the 80’s? Give us a dio or short story (your choice) using an 80’s sitcom as your inspiration.
My Honorable Opponent's page: Rinse Jan
This was hard. Harder than anything I EVER could have imagined. I was born in 1996, I have never watched a sitcom (especially those from the 80s), and was slow in getting this build done. Thankfully, my parents were able to suggest their favorite's from that time and I was able to look up a few of the pilot episodes. Mork and Mindy was my favorite of these. A sci-fi story where eggs are spaceships? How funny is that!
In the original show, Mork, an alien from the planet Ork, comes to earth to study terrestrial culture. He lands in his egg-shaped spaceship and is found by Mindy, a young woman. I lost interest once they met.

In my dio, I reverse the situation. Below, Mindy crash lands in her jeep on an Orkian landscape where she is found by Mork. Enjoy!

The sweet juice of an Orkian plant oozes from a specimen which the jeep smooshed.

Mork arrives at the scene.

I have always wanted to angle a dio like this.

Here is Mork's egg.

Originally, I wanted to build a fleet of Orkian spaceships. The following are what resulted:

Mork's Starfighter! The cockpit detaches and becomes the egg. For those of you who were wondering how and egg-shaped propellent-less spacecraft could break through an atmosphere, this is your answer.

Here is the Orkian President's cruiser. The egg shape here was a blast to build, although it was out of my comfort zone. Random spaceships are just fun to build sometimes.

Here is the cockpit. True to the sitcom, the Orkians are sitting on their heads.

And I finnish with the Jeep. This was the most challenging part of the build because the scale was hard. Cars are always difficult for me.
Again, thanks judges and Rinse! I can't wait to see what you were working on!
Soli Deo Gloria!

Congrats on the default win! That angled base is a winner in and of itself, and that's certainly a technique that I'll return to steal. Though it's never fun to win by default, I think you can rest assured that you would have put up a serious challenge to anything Rinse may have posted. See you in round 4, and good luck! You may need it! |

Brilliant! Having never seen a sitcom I just might have to check that one out. Best of luck to you in Round 4, and may you receive a better category this time around. |

Since your opponent couldn't build his entry in time you automatically have my vote, I like your creation a lot and I'm actually happy I don't really have to "judge" in this category because it's not an easy one for me either. good luck in round 4! |

Excellent job Max! Though it can be disheartening to win by default, your build is excellent and I'm certain would have put up an excellent fight against your opponent's entry. Good luck in round 4! |

Dear Max Pointer, First of all I want to say that I adore your creation! the irregular baseplate and the jeep are fantastic! Secondly, as you have probably noticed already, I have not yet posted my entry... In my desperation and sleepiness I left a quick note in the round 3 thread at the MO group that explained my absence. My mother had taken my photocamera with her on their holiday trip... Grrr :( I have got it back now but I am not sure If to post my horrible WIP... I tried creating the first scene from the 80s sitecom ALF, at suggestion of Chris --> (I had no clue what to build either.) Tthe only things that were already completed of my MOC was the roof and the crasched spaceship, but it would have never beaten your eggs anyway. So congratulations on your well deserved win! And Good luck against Mark or Leda! I know you will stand a chance! Again, my apologies, and thanks, Rinse |

The Mork and egg are spot on. Even the old Jeep CJ7 is right. I actually had a Mork "action" figure when I was a kid. I really can't remember what other figures or things you could get with the collection because the series didn't really lend itself to that. |

Epic! Or should I say Eggpic? Brilliant work Max, I think this definitely stands a chance. The angle of the base is fantastic. My favorite part though, has to be the egg Star-ship. SO COOL! Well done buddy! P.S. I did manage to get an entry in... *slinks off feeling abashed* |
