OMG!! I do prefer your creation than Lando's one. Your challenge was much more difficult!! For more ten years, I used to "set" as a model for professional drawers and sculptors attending what we call "Beaux-arts". (You're naked and you remain still 15, 30 maybe 60min). It made me realize how hard the human body was to sketch or to model from clay!! The same tough exercise with lego. SO: I think for a first try, you did a tremendous job. the result is impressive! Size, motion, stature, proportions, all are here. I would only re-work on the legs (front and mostly back). GO, Nick!! Nathan SAWAYA is not so far anymore... ;)
Thanks a lot Marc :-) You're right about the legs - I did them first, and kind of got better as I went along... |

I was wondering if you could give me some advice on how to build one. I tried to build a human fig once but it didn't work out at all. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
Hello Mike. What I did when building this is have a few photos of him (all angles) and build it up layer by layer, by eye; starting from the bottom. And a truckload of white bricks! Hope this helps... |

Congratulations on moving on to the next round. This is quite a piece of work and the fact you built it in such a short period of time is simply amazing! This was a really tough decision. Your opponent had a cleaner build, but yours had more detail (although I almost wish it hadn't in some places). In the end, the detail won out on this one. You've got my vote! |

Great job Nick. I think a lot of people will have mentally categorised you as a 'car guy' and this showcases some serious skills that have nothing to do with the steering on a 2CV! I love the change from exposed studs on the hair to smooth skin, the anatomical correctness and the sheer scale - I think i'd have just about enough white to do the head! Well done, good luck and yet again a brilliant showing from a Brit builder - Go Team GB! |

I wonder, what made the scale for this? After you made the hands, the feet, the head? Good luck to your judges!

Nice butt shot. No, wait, I mean...nevermind. Carving this out of marble is one thing, but constructing it from scratch, in 3D, and perfectly proportioned? That is masterfull, Nick! I humbly bow to thy greatness. I wonder, what made the scale for this? After you made the hands, the feet, the head? Good luck to your judges! |

Nick, this just upped the bar a few extra notches. The sculpting is masterful, you've really captured the curves well, and his head in particular is fantastic. The inclusion of little details like the belly button is great, but it begs one question: with all these details would it have been that much more difficult to create a little flower or leaf? :P In any event, this is a really incredible entry, and I'd love to see some shots of you standing beside it for scale (if possible). |

Wow, Nick, that's amazing! The shape of the sculpture is perfect, it's as close as possible with LEGO bricks! I've seen both, the "outdoor" copy and the original in the museum in Florence and you really captured the spirit of it. Good luck with the judges, this is a really tough challenge for your opponent :-)) |

Terrific job with the facial expression, I love those eyes. I also love how he's very posable.
BTW, I've actually seen the real one, and it's extremely accurate for a lego model :) |
